Diablo 4 recently shared the patch notes for a small upcoming update that fixes a few bugs with Horadric Tomes, Escalating Nightmares, quest tracking, and Wolves summoned by Druids. This download will be available for all Diablo 4 players for free on August 12, regardless of whether they own the Vessel of Hatred expansion.
On July 1, Diablo 4 kicked off Season 9, Sins of the Horadrim – a big seasonal update that includes exciting content like Horadric Spells, Strongrooms, and Jewels, culminating in a climactic confrontation against Astaroth. Every two weeks after that, Blizzard has rolled out smaller patches to keep things fresh, with the most recent Diablo 4 update going live on July 29.
It has been two weeks since then, meaning it is almost time for yet another Diablo 4 patch. The next update for Diablo 4 is set to go live on August 12, bringing a handful of improvements to the game. That said, the patch is considerably smaller than previous ones for Season 9 – it only consists of four bullet points, all of which are bug fixes. Once this update goes live, issues causing Horadric Tomes to not drop, Escalating Nightmares to not properly escalate in the Vile Hive dungeon, quests to vanish from the tracker, and Wolves summoned by Druids to not properly gain damage boosts under specific circumstances should be resolved.
Assuming Diablo 4 continues to follow this schedule, fans could see another small update on August 26 – two weeks after this impending patch – and potentially another on September 9. Diablo 4 Season 10, Infernal Chaos, doesn’t have a release date yet, but it is set to run from September through December. It remains to be seen when exactly Season 9 will end, but players will likely start hearing things about what’s next for Diablo 4 within the next month.
Not much is known about Season 10 yet, though some basic information was shared on the Diablo 4 roadmap. Fans can expect a new gameplay mechanic called Chaos Powers, along with additional quests and a reputation board. Infernal Hordes will also be updated, and a new pet will be available as well. Lastly, Diablo 4’s second external IP collaboration will take place in the wake of Season 8’s crossover with Berserk.
Unfortunately, Diablo 4 will be moving forward without Rod Fergusson, the former head of the franchise within Blizzard. Though the major executive has stepped away from his position at the company, Diablo 4 is still alive and well, with more seasonal updates and a second expansion already in the works.
