Yunara is League of Legends’ newest champion, joining the Rift as a classic ADC with a small twist. Like most ADCs, she deals damage primarily with auto attacks and a ranged projectile ability, while being fairly immobile. However, what sets Yunara apart is that she deals plenty of Magic Damage, especially when she builds Crit. This makes her a good option when the rest of her team is mostly AD, and variety is needed.

Mastering the bot lane can take years of practice, and these are some helpful tips for those starting out the skill
Yunara’s Abilities In League Of Legends
Passive – Vow of the First Lands
Yunara’s Critical Strikes deal additional magic damage.
- This is part of what sets her apart from other ADCs, who mostly deal physical damage.
- Building Critical Strike Chance is a priority.
Q – Cultivation of Spirit
Passive: Yunara’s Attacks deal additional magic damage On-Hit. Launching an attack causes Yunara to generate 1 Unleash (max: 8), increased to 2 when attacking a champion. Not attacking for 6 seconds causes Yunara to lose 1 Unleash every 0.5 seconds.
Active: Yunara unleashes her inner potential for 5 seconds, during which she gains Attack Speed, her Attacks deal even more magic damage, and her Attacks spread to nearby enemies, dealing physical damage.
- It costs 8 Unleash to use the Active, so Yunara must attack first and ramp up in power.
- These stacks are shown via a white bar under her mana. It turns orange when ready to use.
- This makes Yunara good in drawn-out teamfights, but poor at picks.
- Critical Strikes can spread.
- The Active is easy for waveclear as it deals more damage to minions below 30% HP.
- It can spread to an unlimited number of enemies in any direction.
- Attack every so often to stop her stacks from disappearing.
W – Arc of Judgement/Arc of Ruin
Yunara lets rip a spinning prayer bead that slows down when near enemies and lingers and expands when it reaches its endpoint. The initial hit deals physical damage and Slows by 99% decaying over 1.5 seconds. It deals additional physical damage per second to enemies in the area.
Transcendent State – Arc of Ruin: Yunara fires off a laser that deals both physical and magic damage and Slows by 99% decaying over 1 second.
- Cast time scales with permanent Attack Speed.
- Arc of Ruin is considered an Ultimate Ability and has a lower cooldown.
- The enhanced version works with Flash to increase range or change direction, but the normal version doesn’t.
E – Kanmei’s Steps/Untouchable Shadow
Yunara becomes Ghosted and gains Move Speed, which is increased when moving toward an enemy champion. This decays over 2 seconds.
Transcendent State – Untouchable Shadow: Yunara dashes in a direction.
- Untouchable Shadow is considered an Ultimate ability.
- She can dash through thin walls with her empowered E.
R – Transcend One’s Self
Yunara enters a Transcendent State for 15 seconds. Cultivation of Spirit (Q) is activated for the duration, Arc of Judgment (W) is upgraded to Arc of Ruin and has its cooldown reduced by 50%, and Kanmei’s Steps (E) is upgraded to Untouchable Shadow and has its cooldown refreshed.
- As this refreshes her E, try to use E first and then cast R for maximum efficiency.
- Cast this after her Q ends, or cast Q after her R ends to have Cultivation of Spirit up for the maximum time.
- W and E seem to refresh when the ult ends, so consider using them just before.
Yunara’s Build In League Of Legends
Yunara Ability Max Order
Like the vast majority of champions, Yunara will want to max her ultimate ability whenever possible at levels 6, 11, and 16.
In terms of basic abilities, her Q is by far the most important for DPS. Her E and W can be maxed in any order, but as she is mostly immobile, any additions to her E can be helpful.
Yunara Runes
Yunara is all about ramping up in drawn-out fights, making Lethal Tempo ideal for her as each attack increases her Attack Speed. Legend: Alacrity is also great for this reason. The last rune in the Precision tree can be Cut Down against tanky teams or Coup De Grace against squishy teams.
Free boots and cookies from the Inspiration tree save money and help Yunara through the early laning phase, which can be rough.
Hail of Blades is an alternative Keystone Rune, as the three rapid attacks it provides allow her to stack and use her Q much faster. However, it’s not as good in teamfights or for taking down tanks. Other Minor Runes that work well for most ADCs will likely be good on Yunara, too.

Boots For Yunara
Like most ADCs who rely on attack speed, Berserker’s Greaves are always a good option. Due to Yunara dealing lots of Magic Damage, she also has the option of Sorcerer’s Shoes. These could work well against squishy teams.
Additionally, as with any champion, if the enemy team is full AD with lots of auto attackers, then Plated Steelcaps can be preferable. The same goes for Mercury’s Treads against heavy Magic Damage and hard CC.
Core Items For Yunara
Yunara wants to build AD, Crit items, and Attack Speed, with Crit being particularly important thanks to her passive and Q.
- Yun Tal Wildarrows
- Infinity Edge
- Runaan’s Hurricane
- Lord Dominik’s Regards
- Mortal Reminder
- Phantom Dancer
- Rapid Firecannon
- Immortal Shieldbow
- Bloodthirster
- Guardian Angel
Other Items For Yunara
While the best Yunara builds are likely to rely on Crit, On-hit items can also be good with her Q. She also deals a fair amount of magic damage, meaning Magic Penetration could prove useful if the balancing worked in her favor. Lastly, she has a small amount of AP scaling, meaning AP items aren’t wasted on her, granting options such as Zhonya’s Hourglass.
- Essence Reaver
- Guinsoo’s Rageblade
- Kraken Slayer
- Statikk Shiv
- Wit’s End
- Terminus
- Zhonya’s Hourglass
