How To Summon Companions In Wuchang: Fallen Feathers

Are you wondering about how to summon companions in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers? This mechanic is introduced fairly early in the campaign. That said, there are a few key requirements that you need to complete if you want to find allies for the coming battles.

How to summon companions in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers

You can summon companions by using an item known as the Bone Whistle. Here’s a quick summary:

    • After beating the first main boss, the Man-Eating Dutanga, you’ll receive the Lightzen Key.
    • The Lightzen Key unlocks a door at the opposite side of the yard in Lightzen Temple.
    • Follow the path across the river until you meet an NPC named Nian Suichang. He’ll give you the Bone Whistle and the “Well Met” emote.
    • The Bone Whistle can also be purchased from a vendor named Tao Qing.
Nian Suichang hands you a Bone Whistle item.

Requirements and tips for summoning companions

Just because you have the Bone Whistle doesn’t mean you can readily summon companions in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers. There are still a few caveats:

    • NPCs can only join you in battles against specific enemies/bosses. You can’t just call on them in the middle of a deserted village.
    • A notification at the bottom of the screen should tell you that the Bone Whistle can be used for that particular fight.
    • Some NPCs have quests that you can tackle. If you complete their tasks, there’s a chance that you can summon them for a pivotal battle at the end.
    • The Bone Whistle animation takes several seconds. As such, you should have it in your inventory’s quick access slot so you can summon immediately as soon as a boss fight begins.

That does it for our guide on how to summon companions in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers. If you’re keen on other combat-related mechanics, you can check our guides on how to upgrade weapons and how to unlock acupoints.
