Every main region in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers has a lot of optional areas to explore that offer additional chances to level up or gear to try out in your build. In some cases, these optional areas offer entire boss fights that can be easily missed if you don’t know where to look for them.
Even if you’re at a high level, optional bosses can drop NPC quest items, spells, or gear. The first optional boss players can find and fight is right around Shu Sanctum, though the path to the boss can be long if you don’t know exactly where to go. Here’s where to find and Beat Gluttonous Monstrosity Lu Hongliu, the first optional boss.

Where to Find Gluttonous Monstrosity Lu Hongliu in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers
To find this boss, you’ll want to start at the Shu Sanctum Shrine. From the shrine, take the exit that is directly across the Sanctum from the shrine, heading outside to climb the ladder found to the right. On the roof, head to the back right to find another ladder and run across the bridge, taking the ladder down found to the left of the bridge. On the lower platform, look to the left when facing the edge to climb down yet another ladder and reach the ground.
From here, you’ll follow a long path forward until you reach a fork in the road with the path to the right having stairs, two dogs, and an enemy with a gun. Climb the stairs and head along the path to the left to enter the village. Head straight down the main road to the large enemy with the cannon. After defeating them, turn around and look to the left to see a ramp leading up and onto the rooftops. To the left will be a ladder leading to the rooftop on the opposite side of the blocked road.
Continue forward along the rooftop to find a ladder back down to the main road, now on the other side of the blockade. Once you get down, follow the road straight ahead to eventually reach a stairway heading to a large wooden gate with the boss on the other side of that gate. Taking the path to the right before the boss can open a shortcut back to Shu Santum, which is worth doing before the boss to make sure you have an easier path back to the nearest shrine in case you die.

Madness lets players deal and receive increased damage in Wuchang Fallen Feathers, here’s how it works and how to remove it.
How to Beat Gluttonous Monstrosity Lu Hongliu in Wuchang Fallen Feathers
- Bring a fast weapon type.
- Upgrade your endurance as much as possible.
- Bring items that cure corruption.
- Wear armor that boosts corruption resistance but also has great slash resistance.
Lu Hongliu’s biggest strength is its speed, even in just phase 1. While it can have a wide area attack that hits behind it, you’ll almost always want to dodge around to the back of the boss, as these attacks are much weaker than getting the front end of its claws or bite attacks. Once in a combo, this boss has a hard time turning around, so if you’re behind it, you’ll have a wider distance between you and any potential attacks.
The main attack you want to take advantage of is its spit attacks, as it gets locked into a long animation and won’t be able to hit anything that isn’t directly in front of it. Whenever you see the jump attack, just worry about dodging the first jump, and try to dodge under it for the second dodge, as it will briefly stop after landing from the second jump.
You won’t get any long combos on this boss, so worry about hitting it once or twice while you can and building up for an Obliterate attack.
Phase 2
Phase two makes the boss much more aggressive, giving it longer combos with its claw attacks and making its spit attack even longer. While more aggressive with longer combos, this boss won’t get anything brand new to worry about, but you will have even shorter windows to attack in that phase one, as the start of additional combos also comes faster.
Don’t change up your strategy, and keep poking the boss whenever you can to chip away at its health and build up Obliterate attacks. If done correctly, you should be able to get off two during the fight, depending on your weapon and damage output.
