Ready or Not is a difficult game, and if you’re trying to get all the achievements for it, it’ll only get harder. The Way Out West in particular is a tricky achievement to get, not only because of its unlock requirement, but also because of how vague it is.
Clearing a smuggler’s compound with nothing but a six-shooter is bound to give players some issues, but thankfully, this isn’t as hard to do as it sounds. In this guide, we’ll be going over how you can unlock the Way Out West achievement for Ready or Not as quickly and as easily as possible.

How to Unlock the Way Out West Achievement in RoN
For this achievement, you need to clear the Rust Belt map with only the .357 Revolver. This means no primary weapons, no tactical devices, and no grenades. In this mission, you’ll be going up against a group of smugglers who are trying to help people cross the border illegally, and unlike suspects found in earlier RoN missions, these guys are packing some serious heat.
Thankfully, the Way Out West achievement/trophy only requires you to complete the mission, which means you can throw all caution into the wind and just start blasting as soon as you arrive. It’s fine if you lose a few points to some rules of engagement penalties, but as long as you don’t kill civilians, you should be good to go.
The Way Out West is a bit buggy, and it may not register as completed even if you complete the mission perfectly. If you’re having issues unlocking the achievement/trophy, try the following:
- Do not bag any evidence
- Do not restrain suspects
- Do not order AI teammates to do either of the above
Loadout Recommendation
Since you have no choice but to use the .357 Magnum for this achievement, you won’t really have much of a loadout to work with. However, we do recommend that you take heavy armor with either steel or ceramic plates with you. JHP Rounds are also great since most enemies here are unarmored.
This armor setup will feel cumbersome at first, but much like in 23 Megabytes A Second, it’ll help a lot once you enter the tight corridors underground. The tunnels are tight and offer little room for maneuvering, and some doors are basically killzones due to the lack of cover. More importantly, the majority of enemies here use pistol-caliber weapons, so steel plates with full body coverage will be literal lifesavers.
Just keep in mind that while ceramic armor plates can stop rifle rounds, they break more easily. If you take too many hits, you’ll end up with no armor left to protect you. They are lighter than steel plates, though, so if you want some more speed, they’re still quite good.
If you’re not getting the achievement despite completing Rust Belt with just a revolver, try removing any attachments from your weapon. Also, avoid interacting with anything while holding your primary weapon/tactical device.
