Marvel Rivals players are unhappy with the upcoming matchmaking limitations revealed by NetEase. The adjustment will be available with the launch of Marvel Rivals Season 3.5, which will bring new features and changes to shake up the shooter and keep the experience engaging.
Marvel Rivals Season 3 arrived on July 11 with the threat of Knull, the god of symbiotes, as its theme. To combat such a high-level danger, the developers finally added Jean Grey/Phoenix, bringing another playable Duelist to the game. Continuing the tradition of previous seasons, Marvel Rivals has added a new map, Klyntar: Celestial Husk, available in Domination mode. Team-Ups have been modified again, with a new joint ability for Phoenix and Wolverine, and two for the Human Torch – one with Spider-Man and one with The Thing. Marvel Rivals will soon enter the second half of Season 3, but one of the announced features is not making the community very excited.
The Marvel Rivals community reacted negatively to upcoming matchmaking limitations in ranked play, preventing players at Platinum and above from playing in five-person squads. On the game’s subreddit, user smaughh called the adjustment “odd,” and disagreed that this is the right way to prevent people from playing against “massive stacks.” Many of the more than 900 comments expressed sadness, as they play Marvel Rivals with friends in full teams, and the change will make this more difficult. Others argued that this could increase the number of smurf accounts, allowing Marvel Rivals players to play ranked in squads.
Ranked Matchmaking Limitations Receive Backlash From Marvel Rivals Players
With the start of Season 3.5, only Marvel Rivals players in Bronze, Silver, and Gold will be able to play ranked in teams of five. Players who reach Platinum, Diamond, and Grandmaster will only be able to queue with up to three people. For players in the highest ranks of Marvel Rivals – Celestial, Eternity, and One Above All – the limitations will be even more severe, with only up to two players allowed in a team.
Marvel Rivals Season 3.5 arrives on August 8, and in addition to matchmaking adjustments, the patch will finally add Blade to NetEase’s shooter. Marvel Rivals Team-Ups will be adjusted, including Blade in the Team-Up with Moon Knight and Cloak and Dagger, and bringing a new joint ability for Adam Warlock and Luna Snow. For fans looking forward to new skins, one of the highlights is the upcoming free costume for The Thing, giving the hero a symbiote makeover.
