Grow a Garden has given players a super-cozy and chill Roblox experience that’s charmed them from the start. But farming can get a little too quiet without some company, especially if you don’t have many in-game friends. Thankfully, the 1.04.0 update introduced pets as sidekicks, making the game a lot more fun and heartwarming.
While these little creatures brighten up your farm and bring it to life, they also support you in many incredible ways. For those interested, this guide will give you a detailed rundown of all Grow a Garden pets and their abilities.
Updated on August 5, 2025, by Somiya Adrees: With each Grow a Garden update, new critters join the ever-growing pet lineup. This guide has been updated to include all pets added up to the 1.17.0 update. New sections have also been added, covering how to collect pets and improve their performance.
How to Get Pets in Grow a Garden
Players can collect so many adorable pets in the game, though only 60 of them can be stored at a time (unless you’ve bought extra pet storage), and just a few can be actively used on the farm. The main way to get pets in Grow a Garden is by opening Pet Eggs, which are available through Raphael’s Stall or special event shops.
If you’re new, Raphael’s Stall (called Pet Eggs) is located near the Gear Shop. There, you can purchase six types of eggs, each hatching pets of different rarities. Just keep in mind that only three random types are stocked at any given time. Here’s what you might find:

While the aforementioned eggs can be obtained anytime, event-exclusive eggs, like the Oasis Egg, Primal Egg or Zen Egg, only show up during events. You can grab them from event shops or sometimes in the Game Shop. With the new crafting mechanic, players can also create an Anti Bee Egg at the Crafting Table using resources. Once you have an egg, simply place it in your garden and wait for it to hatch. If you’re in a hurry, you can speed things up using Robux or pets that help hatch eggs faster.
Remember, the devs often give out free new pets, like the Chicken Zombie, Cooked Owl or Football, to players who attend the live launch of the latest updates, so try not to miss them.
What Do Pets Do in Grow a Garden?

Can You Improve Pet Traits in Grow a Garden?
You can definitely improve your pet’s ability in Grow a Garden by either aging it or giving it Gold and Rainbow mutations. By doing so, they’ll experience a spike in their ability. For example, they’ll be able to duplicate fruits more successfully, use their traits more often, and even have a higher likelihood of giving variants or seeds.
To age your pets faster, make sure they’re well-fed and gaining EXP by roaming freely or with the help of EXP-boosting animals. The best part is, just like crops, pets continue to grow while you’re offline. You just need to keep an eye on their hunger bar, which decreases every 12 hours. As for Gold and Rainbow mutations, they are luck-based. Just toss a pet (aged 50 or older) into the Pet Mutation machine and hope it comes out like that.
Players can also use the Pet Mutations machine to give pets other powers, like adding mutations to fruits, stopping fruit from getting stolen, or giving experience points to active critters.
Do Pet Abilities Stack in Grow a Garden?
Based on Grow a Garden’s official Discord, pet abilities do stack. This means you can get more from their combined traits. For instance, a Polar Bear only gives a small chance for Chilled or Frozen fruits to spawn on your farm, but having more of these critters can raise your mutation odds. Also, since the Silver Monkey has trouble refunding unique plants, you can leave many of those on your plot if you want to keep your valuable crops even after selling them.
This stacking works for animals with similar traits, too. Having an Owl, Night Owl, and Blood Owl together can give your active pets’ experience points a nice boost. To get the most out of this, try unlocking more pet slots (there are up to eight) and add critters that meet your goals.
