Battlefield 6 fans are calling for the game’s maps to add more weather effects in order to liven up the environments. As it stands, some Battlefield 6 fans think the maps feel a little lifeless compared to ones found in previous iterations of the series.
Players are currently in the process of trying out Battlefield 6 ahead of its full release on October 10. The Battlefield 6 open beta is out now and has already reached a massive number of concurrent players, with hundreds of thousands of gamers jumping in to see what Battlefield Studios has been working on. Despite the tough reception to previous game Battlefield 2042 in 2021, it’s clear that gamers are still yearning for an excellent Battlefield game.
Battlefield 6 Fans Want More Weather Effects in Maps
A Reddit thread started by user CrotasScrota84 has highlighted one issue with Battlefield 6 maps: the lack of weather. According to the Redditor, the current lack of weather effects “creates a weird illusion of lifelessness,” claiming that even some wind could help, with players able to “see smoke blowing and debris and trees swaying.” The issue is that makes the maps feel “static,” even in a game with so much dynamic destruction happening at all times.
The response in the thread was largely in agreement, with users pointing to previous Battlefield games as examples of weather done right. One fan highlighted the round-based dynamic weather seen in Battlefield 1‘s Operations, while another made the point that these kinds of weather systems help to make maps more “memorable.” A great point was made that it’s a “cheap way to keep existing maps fresh for longer,” and there certainly seems to be a lot of concern by the fact that weather is missing from the Battlefield 6 open beta so far.
This kind of feedback is why the Battlefield 6 open beta is just that: a beta. It’s good for Battlefield Studios to get the opportunity to hear what fans think of the game a couple of months out from release, so that it can work on fixing things for the full game. Adding dynamic weather to maps may be too tall of a task to manage in that short space of time, but it’s still good for the developer to have that feedback to know for future additions and updates.
