Pokemon GO‘s latest event is the Munchlax Hatch Day, running for only a couple of hours (11 am, Aug 9 to 5 pm local time). There’s not really anything insanely special about it. Still, if you’ve been itching to add a Shiny Munchlax or two to your collection of critters, this is the perfect opportunity, as the chances of finding the Big Eater Pokemon are only 1 in 10 (not bad!).

What are the Event Bonuses for the Munchlax Hatch Day Event in Pokemon GO?

Until the event comes to an end, players can look forward to the following bonuses:

• Double Candy from hatching eggs
• Increased chances of finding a Shiny Munchlax
• Increased chance of getting 2 km eggs from PokeStops (Munchlax will hatch from these!)
• 1/2 egg Hatch distance
• And for the last one, you will get double Stardust from hatching eggs, but only if you pay $1.99 for the optional ticket in the shop.

How to Evolve Munchlax in Pokemon GO

Luckily, Munchlax doesn’t have some complicated evolution method in Pokemon GO. It’ll evolve into Snorlax by feeding it 50 Candy. You can set a Munchlax as your Buddy Pokemon if you need to gather some without needing to capture more Munchlax/hatch them from eggs.

Can Munchlax Be Shiny in Pokemon GO?

Yes! Munchlax –and its evolution, Snorlax, can be shiny in Pokemon GO. Their shiny variants aren’t that different from the regular colors, but as you can see in the images above, they have a darker, bluer color palette. And like other Hatch Day events, you should have a 1 in 10 chance of finding a shiny Munchlax.
