How To Turn Off PS5 Adaptive Triggers In Battlefield 6

Ever since the beta of Battlefield 6 was released, players have been trying to figure out how to disable the Adaptive Triggers on their PlayStation 5 controllers. The Adaptive Trigger feature on the PS5 controller is fairly controversial, as you either seem to love or hate using it. Some players feel Adaptive Triggers add to the immersion of whatever game they’re playing, while others don’t like having their triggers fight them when they’re trying to shoot an enemy.

If you don’t enjoy Adaptive Triggers in a fast-paced first-person shooter like Battlefield 6, then you’ve almost certainly tried to disable them through the game’s settings. Of course, you likely figured out that there’s currently no way to turn off Adaptive Triggers through Battlefield 6 itself.

Fortunately, whether you’re on PS5 or PC, there’s a method to disable Adaptive Triggers in Battlefield 6, and you can see what it is below.

How to disable Adaptive Triggers on PC in Battlefield 6

First up, let’s start off on PC, as which is where the process is more complicated. Unfortunately, the one known method to disable Adaptive Triggers is only available for Steam. This means if you’re playing on the EA App, you’ll have to keep Adaptive Triggers enabled or switch to Steam.

If you’re on Steam, you can see the steps to turn off Adaptive Triggers below:

    • Launch Steam while Battlefield 6 is not running in the background, and have your PlayStation 5 controller connected to your PC
    • Click on “Steam” in the top-left corner of the application and then select the “Settings” option
    • Find and select the “Controller” section on the left-hand side of the menu
    • In the Controller settings, find the option that says “PlayStation Controller Support”
    • There is a drop-down menu next to this option, and it should read “Enabled” or “Enabled In Games w/o Support.” You can change what it says by clicking the drop-down menu. Choosing “Enabled” is recommended
    • Back out of the Controller settings and go to your Games Library in Steam
    • Right-click on Battlefield 6 in the Games Library and click “Properties”
    • Click the Controller section on the left-hand side of the menu
    • Find the option that says “Override for Battlefield 6” and click on the drop-down menu next to it
    • Select the option that says “Enable Steam Input”
    • You should now see that PlayStation reads “Enabled” right underneath the drop-down menu
    • Back out of the settings and launch Battlefield 6. Adaptive Triggers should no longer be enabled

You might have to tinker with the Steam Input settings if you want custom controller mapping, but it should disable Adaptive Triggers by default. If it doesn’t, then restart Battlefield 6, Steam, or your PC altogether.

How to disable Adaptive Triggers on PS5 in Battlefield 6

Now let’s head to the home of the PS5 controller. On the PlayStation 5 console, you can easily turn off Adaptive Triggers by going to the system settings. Follow the steps below to disable the controller feature:

    • Go to the main settings of the PS5 by clicking the cog icon in the top-right of the main home screen
    • Select Accessories from the settings menu and then click “Controllers”
    • Scroll down until you see the option that says “Trigger Effect Intensity”
    • Click on this option and set it the “Off”
    • Exit the settings, launch Battlefield 6, and you shouldn’t have any Adaptive Trigger functions enabled

Naturally, it’s much simpler to disable Adaptive Triggers on PS5 than it is on PC, but players can turn the feature off with a few button clicks on either platform. Now that you’ve navigated that obstacle, why not check out your stats in Battlefield 6 to see how you’re performing?
