ASUS Is Making a New Xbox Controller
Through a YouTube Short on its official channel, ASUS has given a sneak peek at a new Xbox controller. The short video shows the general Xbox shape of the controller, with a small sighting of paddle buttons on the back. The teaser provides confirmation that more news will be announced at Gamescom 2025, with the event taking place from August 20 to August 24. The full program for the week of Gamescom is live, though the specifics on when ASUS will be revealing new information on its controller are not public. ASUS is listed as a Premium Partner for Gamescom this year, much like Nintendo which will also be making an appearance.
The caption on the video draws attention to a new kind of material being used, hopefully bringing innovation that has yet to be thought of in the controller industry. ASUS has used magnets in some of its gaming keyboards, and this could be its attempt at bringing those ideas over for a new kind of controller.
The first ASUS controller was released back in 2023, giving the company more than enough time to weigh customer response and adjust this new controller in whatever ways necessary. The comment under the video says this controller will help players experience the future of gaming, which could imply great innovations in pro-controller technology, other than just a longer battery life and more responsive buttons and triggers.
ASUS’s first controller, the ASUS ROG Raikiri Pro, had an incredible battery life of up to 48 hours, which greatly outclasses most other controllers on the market. The Raikiri Pro was a decent controller overall, but players should be excited about what ASUS has learned and built upon over the last few years. ASUS puts a good deal of effort into making new ideas for keyboards and mice, and now that innovation may be aimed towards controllers.
