Renoir’s Drafts is the last optional location in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. It unlocks at the start of Act 3, and players have the option to explore the area right then, but it is highly recommended not to do that. This is because the enemies are very high in level and can easily one-shot the whole Expedition. The optional area is filled with collectibles such as weapons and Pictos, all of which are mentioned in the guide below, as well as their locations in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.
Renoir’s Drafts Location In Expedition 33
After completing the second act and gaining the ability to fly with Esquie, you can then fly over towards the Monolith. As you approach Visages and Sirene, where the Axons were located, look towards the center of these locations in the water to spot a gate you can go through. However, to access this portal, you will need to advance Esquie’s questline back at the camp so that you acquire the stone, which allows Esquie to dive underwater. You can then go underwater to the Renoir’s Drafts location.
Completing the Tower of Endless, as well as the other challenging world bosses before accessing this area, is recommended, as that will get your party to a reasonable level, enough to withstand most attacks the Nevrons here throw at you.
Renoir’s Drafts Collectibles In Expedition 33
Endless Light (Music Record)
After interacting with the first flag, head down the path and turn left at the end. Keep following this path until you spot a grapple point that takes you up to the roof of the building. Drop down up ahead and to your right is the Music Record, next to the mouth of a statue.
Contorso (Verso’s Weapon)
Turn around from where you picked up the Music Record to find a group of Nevrons that you must defeat to find this weapon upgrade.
Quick Break (Pictos)
After defeating the enemies, look behind them to spot a collectible lying on the floor at the mouth of a statue.
Ballaro (Monoco’s Weapon) & Shortcut (Pictos)
Head down the path from the first flag, and the weapon, along with the Pictos upgrade, should drop from the first enemy group you come across.
Color of Lumina
Follow the path after the last group of enemies and turn right to spot a few more enemies. Ignore them and go all the way to the end to find the first Color of Lumina there.
Kralim (Lune’s Weapon)
Now go up the ramp on the left path, go past the Scarecrow on your left and the Fading Man to come across a group of enemies that you must defeat for the weapon upgrade.
Perfect Chroma Catalyst
Head left after the previous collectible, and there will be a Paint Spike wall that you can break using your attack, given you have found four of the nine Lost Gestrals. Follow the path, grapple to the other side, and you will spot a Chromatic mini-boss up ahead that you must defeat for the upgrade material.
Grandiose Chroma Catalyst #1
Go to the right path where you got the upgrade of Kralim, and before going down the ramp, defeat the group of enemies facing away from you who are also guarding the upgrade material.
Grandiose Chroma Catalyst #2
Go down the ramp on the right and turn left to find the collectible at the end.
Sniper (Pictos)
Go forward towards the two Creation enemies up ahead and turn left before them to find another group of Nevrons. These enemies will drop the Sniper (Pictos).
Second Chance (Pictos)
From the previous collectible, go for the two Creation enemies now to get the Pictos upgrade.
Grandiose Chroma Catalyst #3
Go to the area behind the fountain, where you fought the two Creations, to find this upgrade material next to some boxes.
Grandiose Chroma Catalyst #4
Go left of the fountain area towards another Creation enemy and go up the ramp next to it. Use the grapple point to get up to the roof, and you can find this collectible next to the merchant.
Painerim, Nosaram, Yverum, Chromaro, & Charnon
Talk to the merchant and fight him to get a lot of options of weapons to purchase, as well as Pictos and upgrade materials.
Charging Critical (Pictos)
Turn around from the merchant to spot a few floating blocks that you can jump onto and make your way to the Pictos on the other side.
Charging Burn (Pictos)
Go back to the merchant and go behind him to find a broken bridge with a Pictos on the other side.
Grandiose Chroma Catalyst #5
Look for a rope on the opposite side of the merchant. Go up and follow the path ahead to find the upgrade material at the end, next to some boxes.
Color of Lumina
Go down the rope and stick to the left wall to reach the end, where you can find the Color of Lumina.
Rush on Powerful (Pictos)
- Nearest Flag: Golden Tree
Turn around from the previous collectible and go up the ramp to the left of the Creation enemy to find the Golden Tree Flag. Go up the path, but do not take the portal yet, as this teleports you to the next area. Instead, go around either side to find a grapple point. Keep following this path, and when you spot the enemies, ignore them and go through the doorway on the left to find the Pictos at the end.
Simoso (Verso’s Weapon)
Go through the portal and keep going all the way to the end, where you will have to drop down. This will be a very long drop, and you will find yourself next to the Simon Flag. Interact with the flag and get ready to face the hardest boss in the game. Once defeated, he gives you the weapon for Verso.
If you are finding the boss fight extremely difficult, you can resort to changing the difficulty, which will make the dodge/parry timings easier as well as reduce the overall damage of the boss. There is also the option to change and tweak builds to utilize every character’s full potential and deal much more damage.
Journal – Simon (The Abyss)
Once the fight is over, you can grab the journal next to the sword embedded in the ground.
