Even after the Pokemon World Championships 2025 end, there are plenty of fun events on the horizon for Pokemon GO players. From PokeStop Showcases to the addition of Eternatus in Max Finale, there’s a lot for trainers to do in the next month already. Many Pokemon GO players tend to keep their eyes peeled for larger events like 5-star raid rotations and Pokedex-expanding events like the upcoming Sunkissed Shores event. Among the many things players can do during their mobile AR adventure, the Spotlight Hours may be among its most unsung windows of opportunity.
Spotlight Hours are much more frequent than Pokemon GO‘s Community Days, typically offering four per month rather than the latter’s one or two. The event serves as a great chance for players to catch specific critters to stockpile Stardust and Candy, with a nice bonus attached for taking the time to head out and play. These Spotlight Hours work very well with Pokemon GO‘s evolution requirements where players need 50 to 400 candies, depending on the creature to help it grow stronger. Ralts is the next monster to be highlighted as part of the event, but its evolutions may prove troublesome.
How Pokemon GO’s Ralts Spotlight Hour Might Be More Stressful Than Others
One Hour Might Not Be Enough Time For Pokemon GO Players to Get Ralts’ Evolutions
The better-known Community Days might be a bit misleading with how they only last a few hours rather than the whole day, but Spotlight Hour is exactly what it says on the tin. Starting at 6 PM local time and ending at 7 PM local time, Ralts will appear in massive amounts with an exclusive x2 multiplier that increases how many candies Pokemon GO players get for catching each Ralts. As previously mentioned, bonuses like this do wonders in helping fans get through lofty evolution goals before time runs out. Ralts has two very popular evolutions, though, and any big fan of the critter will want both.
The candy gain bonus is a boon for those looking to add a Gardevoir or Gallade to their collections, especially since both evolutions require 100 candy each. Luckily, if players manage to catch one Ralts every minute, then they should collect enough candy and then some. If players want to catch a shiny, though, then this event isn’t for them as the shiny rate stays the same during Spotlight Hour.
Players who want to evolve a Gallade in the upcoming Spotlight Hour event should make sure they have a Sinnoh Stone in their inventory first.
Pokemon GO’s Spotlight Hours Don’t Increase the Chance of Shinies Appearing
Spotlight Hours are one of the least-advertised events in Pokemon GO, so it’s possible some players have a misconception that Spotlight Hours include boosted shiny rates like Community Day, with no way to look into it in the app or on the official website. The truth is that no, Spotlight Hours do not increase the rate of shinies appearing. Spotlight Hours do increase the spawn rate for the specific Pokemon to an absurd amount for an hour, though, so there’s more opportunity to try one, even if it isn’t guaranteed.
Ralts and its evolutions did get a Community Day early this year, so hopefully there won’t be too many fans who missed out that want to get their first shiny through the Spotlight Hour. Those that do, though, may find themselves frustrated as they fight against the standard Pokemon GO shiny rates to obtain their blue Gardevoir and Gallade in such a short timeframe. This will be even tougher for those aiming for one with decent stats. It doesn’t help that, since Ralts recently had a Community Day, this may be the only chance to get a Shiny Ralts for quite a while yet. At the very least, Spotlight Hour will make it easy for players to obtain plenty of candy for the evolutionary line, so when the opportunity for a shiny arises later on, they’ll be more than ready to evolve it straight away if they wait.
