    Summary

    • Black Ops 7 introduces a Co-Op Campaign with up to 4 players, set in 2035.
    • The Campaign will feature a 32-player PvE Co-Op mode called Endgame.
    • Players will enjoy true cross-progression across Multiplayer, Zombies, & Campaign, for the first time.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 has been officially announced for some time now, and fans can expect another year led by Treyarch. This time, the game takes players away from the ’90s and into the near future of 2035. While fans have been eager for details on Black Ops 7, Gamescom Opening Night Live has given players their first glimpse of what is to come.

Black Ops 7 officially launches on November 14. While fans still have a little time to wait, Treyarch has released a wealth of information about the impending release. Whether it is Multiplayer, Campaign, or Zombies, Treyarch has provided details on each mode. For those interested, here are some of the details confirmed for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7.

Black Ops 7 Will Feature a Co-Op Campaign

Players Can Go Solo or Play With up to Four Players

The fact that Black Ops 7 features a Co-Op Campaign has been confirmed for quite a while now, as fans caught a glimpse of it in the Black Ops 7 teaser trailer. But now, Treyarch has shed some light on additional details that fans can sink their teeth into. Black Ops 7 will feature a four-player Co-Op Campaign where players can take on the roles of JSOC: David Mason, Mike Harper, Eric Samuels, and Leilani Tupuola, diving into a mix of linear missions set in the year 2035.

The story revolves around Raul Menendez’s return and the discovery of a secret weapon that JSOC is exposed to, leading to the kind of trippy levels that the Black Ops series is known for. With a wide range of locales, including Avalon, Nicaragua, Angola, Los Angeles, and even Japan, players will have a diverse lineup of missions to explore. Whether tackling the Campaign solo or with a squad, the difficulty will scale with the squad size and will feature a total of 11 missions.

Black Ops 7’s Campaign Will Feature a Co-Op Mode Dubbed Endgame

Dive Into a 32-Player PvE Experience

While the initial leaks of a 32-player Campaign mission may have been met with speculation, Black Ops 7’s Campaign will indeed feature a Co-Op mode that supports up to 32 players. This mode is called Endgame, an open-world PvE experience that takes place after the end of the Campaign. In Endgame, players can explore Avalon with complete freedom, bringing in their Campaign loadouts, Operators, and unlocked abilities obtained throughout the story.

Here, players can complete Activities, take on Assignments, and fight enemies to upgrade their Operator Combat Rating, which leads to more upgrades for their chosen Operator. Endgame takes an extraction-based approach similar to DMZ, where players can extract weapons, equipment, and more to carry into their next run. However, if they are eliminated, everything is reset, including their Operator Combat Rating. It remains unclear how matchmaking will work in Endgame, or if players will be able to access it before completing the Campaign. Regardless, Endgame adds a new layer of replayability to the Campaign, even if only through this mode.

Global Progression Arrives in the Black Ops 7 Campaign

Earn Weapon XP, Level Up, & Prestige Through the Campaign

Cross progression has been a staple in Call of Duty ever since the debut of Warzone and the Call of Duty HQ, allowing players to level up simultaneously across modes. However, Black Ops 7 will be the first Call of Duty game to feature true cross-progression across Multiplayer, Zombies, Warzone, and even the Campaign. That’s right, players can earn weapon XP to level up their guns, progress through levels to unlock weapons and gear in both Multiplayer and Zombies, and also unlock Weapon Camos by playing the Campaign.

Simply put, the progression system players are already used to in Multiplayer and Zombies is now being brought into the Campaign as well. This means those who jump into the Campaign on day one can level up, earn unlocks for the other modes, and even start working on their Weapon Camo progress. It’s a convenient change, and one that probably should have been implemented much sooner. But that’s not all, as the Campaign will also feature its very own Mastery Camos.

Black Ops 7’s Multiplayer Features 16 6v6 Maps

Dive into 13 Original Maps & 3 Remasters

6v6 is the heart of Call of Duty’s Multiplayer experience, and players will be pleased to know that Black Ops 7 will launch with 16 total 6v6 maps. Thirteen of these are brand new, while three are remastered classics players will instantly recognize: Raid, Express, and Hijacked from Black Ops 2.

Another thing worth noting is that these maps won’t feature any doors, which is sure to please players who weren’t fans of the lasting impact Modern Warfare 2019 had on the series by adding them in the first place. While fans are still waiting to hear whether most of these maps will stick to the traditional 3-lane design or mix in more open and enclosed layouts, one thing is certain. Players will battle it out across a wide variety of locations, including the Australian Outback, Japan, Alaska, and more.

New Movement Changes are Coming to Black Ops 7

Wall Jump, the Removal of Tac Sprint, & More

Omnimovement is back in Black Ops 7, which has long been confirmed by Treyarch. However, Black Ops 7 also brings in some wild changes to movement that some players may be interested in. For starters, players can jump off walls, either to add evasive maneuvers during gunfights or to cross between ledges to avoid falling to their death. Black Ops 7 will also feature a combat roll that lets players reduce fall damage.

As for mode-specific movement abilities, the Campaign introduces a Mega Jump ability that allows players to traverse great distances, along with some other potential movement abilities that have yet to be revealed. The biggest change to movement, though, is that Tac Sprint will not be usable by default. While players can regain Tac Sprint through a Perk in Multiplayer, its removal by default is sure to please those who found its impact on sprint-to-fire and ADS times frustrating.

New 20v20 Mode is Coming to Black Ops 7

Jump Into 2 Avalon Maps in Skirmish

While not much has been revealed about the Multiplayer modes just yet, one mode that has been confirmed is Skirmish, a 20v20 experience. Players dropping into this large-scale mode can battle it out on one of two Skirmish maps at launch, both of which are set on Avalon.

Skirmish will likely play out similarly to Ground War in terms of scale and gameplay, featuring vehicles that players can drive and pilot. However, it also brings in its own unique mechanics, such as a wingsuit for fast traversal and a grapple hook.

All-New Loadout Details and Mechanics for Black Ops 7

Use 30 Different Weapons, Overclock Equipment, & More

Loadouts are what shape the meta of Call of Duty, and Treyarch has revealed plenty of details for Black Ops 7. The game will feature 30 total weapons, including returning favorites like the Peacekeeper Mk1. Combat Specialties from Black Ops 6 also make a comeback, this time with the added twist of mixing two Combat Perk Specialties to create a Hybrid Combat Specialty.

Loopable Scorestreaks also return to Black Ops 7 through the use of a Perk. On top of that, players can now overclock their Equipment and Scorestreaks, unlocking additional features the more they’re used. One example Treyarch gave in their official blog post was the ability to cook the Cluster Grenade, along with an added mini-grenade to its cluster effect.

That’s not all, though, as Black Ops 7 also introduces Weapon Prestige for unique rewards, and the option to share custom weapon builds with other players using Build Codes, making it way easier to pass along the best loadouts. Field Upgrades also enter the fray again, with an example being the Active Camo that renders the player semi-invisible.

Carry Forward Returns for Black Ops 7

Black Ops 6 Content Will Be Usable in Black Ops 7

A point of contention for many fans with Modern Warfare 3 was the inclusion of Carry Forward, and with Black Ops 7 releasing just a year after Black Ops 6, Carry Forward is back in some capacity. Right off the bat, all XP Tokens and GobbleGums from Black Ops 6 will be available for use in Black Ops 7, so players can stack up on both and take advantage of them once the game fully launches.

Black Ops 6 content, such as weapons, weapon cosmetics, operators, and operator skins, will also carry forward into Black Ops 7. However, this won’t be available until Season 1, meaning players jumping in during the pre-season will only have access to Black Ops 7 content. Season 1 will also mark the Black Ops 7 and Warzone integration, bringing Black Ops 7 content into Warzone. As far as carry forward content for Warzone goes, all content present in the current version will remain.

Black Ops 7 Will See the Return of Weekly Challenges

Weekly Challenges Reward Weapons, Attachments, & More

One of the highlights of Modern Warfare 3 was the fact that players could look forward to something new each week with the inclusion of Weekly Challenges. While Black Ops 6 abandoned the concept, Treyarch has confirmed that Weekly Challenges are back for Black Ops 7.

By completing Weekly Challenges in Black Ops 7, players will earn XP progress, unlock weapons, attachments, scorestreaks, and earn exclusive camos. This is a highly requested feature and will provide frequent free content during Black Ops 7’s post-launch support.

Black Ops 7 Will Feature Co-Op Zombies Set in the Dark Aether

Jump Into a Large Map at Launch for Black Ops 7 Zombies

Treyarch has been pretty tight-lipped on most things Zombies-related, but they have confirmed some details about the round-based experience coming at launch. Black Ops 7 Zombies will feature a large-scale map set entirely within the Dark Aether, inspired by the original Tranzit from Black Ops 2.

Players can play as either the Black Ops 6 Crew or a version of the original Zombies Crew: Dempsey, Nikolai, Takeo, and Richtofen. The launch map will include a Wonder Vehicle for transportation across the map’s points of interest. Survival mode also returns, allowing players to jump into separate round-based experiences at each point of interest on the launch map.
