All Boss Fights in MGS Delta Snake Eater, Ranked

Operation Snake Eater sees Naked Snake head into the jungles of Tselinoyarsk to kill his old mentor and her loyal COBRA unit, but taking on living legends isn’t going to be so easy. Metal Gear Solid Delta Snake Eater features the original boss fights found in MGS3: Snake Eater, along with their original mechanics, but with updated controls and a keen eye for attack. Which boss fight in Snake Eater causes the most grief and hardship? All boss fights in MGS: Snake Eater are listed below from the easiest to beat to the hardest to beat. Check them out to see how your list compares, or have a look for a warning of things to come in your own game.

Potential spoilers ahead for Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater!

    9

    The Sorrow

A Simple Walk That Becomes a River of Guilt for Killers

The Sorrow is the most interesting boss fight of Metal Gear Solid Delta Snake Eater, for he has no health and can’t actually be beaten. All Snake has to do in this fight is walk forward, while occasionally evading the psychic attacks of the Sorrow as players make their way upstream against a harsh river. The gimmick of this boss fight is that it’s longer and more intense for the more people that Snake has killed in his mission so far, so players who like to shoot to kill and have no qualms about it will be punished with a lengthy boss fight that shows all the corpses they have made, whereas those who have not killed anyone will have an easy walk ahead. Regardless, the boss requires Snake to die, whether that’s by drowning, a fake death pill, or touching the Sorrow’s skeleton. So long as they have a revive pill, the boss fight can end.

    8

    The Shagohod & Volgin

Infinite Ammo for an On-Rail Boss Fight

The Shagohod is definitely one of the easiest boss fights in Metal Gear Solid Delta Snake Eater, but it’s also the most frustrating. Players are forced to just sit in EVA’s sidecar for her motorcycle while she runs through the facility, avoiding the Shagohod for a lengthy chase. When the boss fight finally does happen, players have an RPG with infinite ammo, so they can just spam shoot the drill treads of the Shagohod and then shoot the center piece to cause mass damage on repeat, effectively stunlocking the Shagohod until it’s defeated. The same principle applies to phase 2 of the fight, so it’s really just the same boss fight twice, which won’t challenge you since you have all the ammo you need, and the Shagohod basically ignores Snake in favor of EVA.

    7

    Revolver Ocelot

What a Thrill to Duel a Revolver-Wielding Obsessor

Snake left quite an impression on Ocelot when he beat him with CQC and told him to use a revolver, and now, he’s taken that to heart. Snake has become Ocelot’s obsession, which is why when he corners him in an arena separated by a large gap, he can have the duel he’s lusted for. This is the first boss fight in Metal Gear Solid Delta Snake Eater, and players can easily beat it simply by hiding behind rocks and waiting for Ocelot to reload. Players can also get a better view of Ocelot’s head with first-person through R1, which makes shooting him on repeat all too easy, especially when they can shoot beehives in the trees to cause Ocelot to run from cover.

    6

    The Pain

A Deadly Underwater Cave Experience with Lethal Bees

The Pain can summon bees to protect himself and shoot at Snake as if he’s wielding a bee-created Tommy Gun, which is why this very impressionable boss is where players might feel some level of difficulty. The boss fight itself has the Pain stand on a center rock, where Snake can dive from one rock to another to avoid poison clouds, bee stings, and bee bullets. Diving from one rock to another provides Snake with plenty of opportunity to fight the Pain while he remains confused as to where Snake could have gone, which provides a simple strategy to win. However, the Pain can still be pretty tough for new players due to their movement restrictions in water, and the Pain’s bee shields that prevent him from taking damage.

    5

    Volgin

The Sadistic Colonel Who Fights with Fists, Electric Volts, and Time

Volgin is one of the few boss fights in Metal Gear Solid Delta Snake Eater that comes with a time limit. After setting the C3 charges for the Shagohod, players will be on a 20-minute timer, which includes cutscenes, meaning that they will have just around 10 minutes to beat Volgin once the cutscenes finish. Volgin can be a nuisance with his super-charged punches, charges, and kicks, and he will often shield his front with electricity, forcing Snake to bait him into an attack with CQC or shoot him from behind. Volgin’s highly aggressive, and the featured time limit gives an extra edge to this battle against the man who’s caused Snake so much pain already.

    4

    The Fear

    A Trap-Setting, Forest-Eating, Tree-Hopping Threat

The Fear deserves his name, for players will feel their hearts thumping in their chest with fear as they look for this invisible threat. The Fear will bounce from tree to tree with an invisibility cloak on, meaning only a key eye can spot which branch he lands on from above. Players can track the Fear all they want with an abundance of shots to disable his sneaking abilities, but he’s still going to lure Snake into explosive traps and tree logs that will deter his progress and weaken him. What makes the Fear an exceptionally annoying boss fight is his ability to heal himself back to 100% health, as he will occasionally hide from Snake and look for an animal to eat. The best strategy for the Fear is simply to be the aggressor and never give him a moment to fire his crossbow or leap to other trees.

    3

    The Boss

The Living Legend Gives Snake 10 Minutes to Show Her What He’s Made Of

The Boss is the final boss fight in Metal Gear Solid Delta Snake Eater, and she’s here to put Snake to the final test. Snake has endured so much in Operation Snake Eater, and now it’s finally time to finish the mission and eliminate his mentor. Emotions may run high, but players will need to be cold and calculating, putting into practice their stealth capabilities for this one-on-one battle. The Boss is also an expert in CQC, so players must time their attacks well to counter the Boss’ assault, or else she will dismantle their currently held weapon. The arena itself is a field of flowers, which the Boss’s attire camouflages so perfectly into, forcing Snake to sharpen his senses and avoid open spaces so as not to be shot to shreds by her Patriot machine gun.

    2

    The Fury

A Fire-Wielding Astronaut Who Wants Snake and the World to Burn

The Fury isn’t the sanest member of the COBRAs ever since his experience in space, where he saw the cold nothingness of black. The Fury comes into battle with a full flame-proof suit and a jetpack, where he will use his thrusters to charge forward and scorch a path, forcing Snake to retreat and hide from the Fury’s assault. The Fury’s suit is very durable, meaning players can deal more damage by shooting the tanks on his back instead of aiming for the head. This extra durability, paired with the fact that the Fury will engulf his corridor arena in fire, proves that the Fury is an intense fight that deals more damage than the rest. Players will need to think fast to avoid being cornered, and will need to shoot the water pipes above to ensure the fire does not overwhelm them too much.

    1

    The End

A Slow Fight That Tests Snake’s Sneaking and Tracking Abilities

The End is the oldest, yet best sniper to have ever lived, and his ability to use photosynthesis helps him blend in with the forest that he now hides in while his scope searches for Snake. The End has a very large arena, where he could be perched in the tall grass and high up to shoot Snake when Snake doesn’t even have a clue how to find him or how to reach him. The End is the ultimate test of endurance and stealth, and players can’t just run in here with a gun in hand; it’s far more tactical than that. Keen eyes will be able to track the End’s sniper glint, or his footprints, and anything else with stealth that allows them to get behind him and attack before he uses a stun grenade to find a new hiding spot. Patience and knowing the forest are essential to finding this great threat.
