Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2‘s highly anticipated Legacy of the Forge DLC is finally almost here, and a recent reveal of its contents by Warhorse Studios via Twitch has just increased the excitement all the more. During the livestream, the developer went into detail about all that players will be able to do in Legacy of the Forge, and it looks like it could keep them busy for quite some time. While the heart of the DLC is its story, which centers around the legacy of Henry’s adoptive father Martin, its soul can be found in its cozy-centric gameplay, which Warhorse has said is “like Stardew Valley, but slower.”
In Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2‘s Legacy of the Forge DLC, players will be given management over a forge where Martin once apprenticed, from which they will rebuild the forge itself and its surroundings, and even customize Henry’s new personal quarters with over 100 million different combinations of furniture, decorations, and cosmetics achievable. However, in order to get the most out of this new feature, players will need to focus on obtaining as much Prestige as possible, which is a new currency being introduced to the game with Legacy of the Forge.
Legacy of the Forge’s Prestige System Puts Reputation First
Prestige Is the New Currency of Progress in Legacy of the Forge
For all intents and purposes, Prestige is Legacy of the Forge’s reputation system and the primary form of progression for the DLC. Since many players who have invested dozens if not hundreds of hours in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 have likely amassed a sizable pile of groschen, Warhorse wanted to ensure they would not be able to just come into the DLC and buy everything right off the bat. This is where Prestige comes in, though players will still need plenty of groschen if they hope to acquire everything the expansion has to offer.
Almost every purchasable piece of furniture, decoration, or cosmetic upgrade in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2‘s Legacy of the Forge DLC is locked behind Prestige. Once players reach a certain rank with the Blacksmithing Guild of Kuttenberg, they will unlock the ability to buy said items with groschen. Obviously, the “better” items require more Prestige than others, which happens to include a mysterious Raven (unlockable at rank 25) that Warhorse said is one of their favorite features. Apparently, there’s more to this Raven than meets the eye, and that’s pretty clear, given players need to reach rank 25 before being allowed to obtain it.
Guild Activities Shape Henry’s Path Forward in Legacy of the Forge
In order to acquire more Prestige, players will need to complete Guild Activities (indicated by orange icons on the map), which come from a pool of unique one-offs as well as repeatable quests. These Guild Activities can be found all over the map, not just in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2‘s Kuttenberg, and can be anything from helping someone repair a sword to punching a guy’s tooth out because it was causing him grief. As players complete these activities, they will gain more Prestige, the forge will increase in popularity, and they will be given new opportunities to purchase more items.
In other words, Prestige is what matters in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2‘s Legacy of the Forge DLC. Even though players still need tens of thousands of groschen if they hope to purchase every item in the expansion, they won’t even be able to use that groschen until they’ve increased their rank with the Blacksmithing Guild. It’s not quite clear yet how long it will take players to significantly increase their rank with the Blacksmithing Guild, but Warhorse did confirm that Legacy of the Forge had around 15–20 hours of content, though that number could vary depending on playstyle.
