Mipumi Games has announced Black Jacket, a roguelite game set to release on Steam in 2026. Black Jacket offers a new twist on Blackjack, the classic game in which players’ cards must get as close to 21 as possible. The upcoming title is also reminiscent of Balatro, another popular Steam game based on cards with unique mechanics.
Balatro was released in February 2024 and quickly joined the ranks of indie games that turned into big hits. Developed by LocalThunk, Balatro is a poker-inspired deck-building roguelike that relies on creating powerful synergies to defeat opponents. To do so, players can unlock over 100 items to improve their runs, use tarot, planets, and spectral cards to strengthen their decks, along with jokers with unique abilities. In addition to being a hit, Balatro has inspired other games, such as a recent announcement.
Black Jacket Challenges Players to Gamble Their Souls to Break Free From Hell
Developer Mipumi Games has revealed Black Jacket, a roguelite game coming to PC via Steam in 2026, with an exact date yet to be announced. A project in partnership with Skystone Games, in Black Jacket, players must defeat the souls of the underworld and use their winnings to bribe the ferryman to escape hell. As in Balatro, gamers can build decks and enhance them with powerful cards, collect artifacts, suits, and curses to gain an advantage over their opponents. These adversaries can be further manipulated by having their card values modified and cards swapped, while the player can also peek at their own decks.
In addition, Mipumi Games’ roguelite features powerful synergies that players will discover as they play, creating strategies to use in each new run. To keep the mysterious atmosphere of this game set in hell, players cannot see their opponents, who will reveal themselves only through their hands and their playing style. It will be up to Black Jacket players to learn more about these characters to win matches, learn more about their stories, and deepen the bond with them in order to break the cycle.
Black Jacket does not currently have a playable demo, although the developers promise to bring more details about the game soon. While more information is not shared, players can check out other Skystone Games titles on Steam, such as the cooperative roguelike Hellcard, which features enemies that look like they are made of paper. Another option is Tyrant’s Realm, a roguelite adventure with a dark story and graphics reminiscent of PlayStation games, in which each biome and encounter is procedurally generated.
