This article contains spoilers from the Solo Leveling manhwa.
Sung Jin-Woo’s meteoric rise to power is not yet over in the Solo Leveling anime. His story has only just begun, and so has his romantic development with the strongest female hunter in Korea, Cha Hae-In. Season 2 missed some of their cute moments, but Solo Leveling Season 3 will certainly push their relationship to the next level, all thanks to Cha Hae-In’s important decision about Sung Jin-Woo.
Anime characters often make important decisions in the most crucial moments, and Cha Hae-In is no different in Solo Leveling. Without this important decision, there’s no telling what would have happened to the slow-burn progress of Cha Hae-In and Jin-Woo’s relationship. Maybe series creator Chugong would have put these two characters in another dangerous situation just to advance their relationship.
Cha Hae-In and Sung Jin-Woo’s Relationship Status
Solo Leveling Seasons 1 and 2 Made Them Allies
- Cha Hae-In and Sung Jin-Woo have a slow-burn romance.
At this point, many fans know that Cha Hae-In and Sung Jin-Woo end up together in Solo Leveling. Just like many anime couples, they married each other and formed a family. However, for those who only consume Solo Leveling in anime form, Cha Hae-In and Sung Jin-Woo are still in the process of getting to know each other. In other words, they aren’t that close, with no real romantic development even after Seasons 1 and 2 ended.
That said, Cha Hae-In and Sung Jin-Woo have a slow-burn relationship, which requires patience from the audience. Since Solo Leveling is not exactly a romance-heavy series, it prioritizes the action, suspense, and drama rather than the romance department. In fact, Sung Jin-Woo has zero intention of chasing after a beautiful girl, even though her sister, Jin-Ah, likes to make fun of his dating life.
On the other hand, Cha Hae-In has fallen under Jin-Woo’s spell from day one. There’s no hope for her to break the spell, as the strongest hunter in Korea has fully captured her heart despite her denial phase. Fans know that Cha Hae-In will eventually come to terms with her feelings, and it might happen in Solo Leveling Season 3, specifically in the Ahjin Guild Arc.
Cha Hae-In Decides Jin-Woo Is Her Friend
Cha Hae-In Officially Becomes Friends With Jin-Woo in Solo Leveling Chapter 130
- Cha Hae-In decides to see Jin-Woo as a friend in the Double Dungeon Arc.
As mentioned above, Jin-Woo and Cha Hae-In’s relationship is a slow burn, which means they haven’t had any real progress in the previous seasons. However, fans are in for a lovely surprise in Solo Leveling Season 3, as the next season could be a turning point for their relationship. After all, Cha Hae-In has decided to see Jin-Woo as a friend, someone she can trust and rely on in battle and everyday life.
During the Double Dungeon Arc, as depicted in Solo Leveling Chapter 130, the Architect of the System, Kandiaru, asked about Cha Hae-In’s relationship with Sung Jin-Woo. With a wounded arm, Cha Hae-In firmly replied that they were friends. On top of that, she told him that she had come to the double dungeon to save Jin-Woo. It was a touching moment, but obviously not for the Architect, who was waiting for Ashborn to descend.
We are friends. I’m here to save hunter Sung Jin-Woo.—Cha Hae-In
Without this declaration, Cha Hae-In and Sung Jin-Woo’s romantic development might have been delayed or taken a more complicated path. Romantic relationships often start as friendships, making their bond as friends an important first step. By openly acknowledging Jin-Woo as her friend, she allows their bond to advance naturally.
Cha Hae-In and Jin-Woo’s Short But Meaningful Friendly Date
Cha Hae-In and Jin-Woo’s First Time Going Out Together
Solo Leveling Season 3 is still unconfirmed, but fans are already expecting the long-awaited friendly date of Cha Hae-In and Sung Jin-Woo to happen next season. At this point, the two characters have officially become friends for days or weeks after the double dungeon incident. Surprisingly, Jin-Woo also has Cha Hae-In’s number saved in his phone under the friend category.
The rest was history, as Jin-Woo would ring Cha Hae-In’s phone to ask her to hang out. She was the only person he thought of calling, not only because she was his friend, but also because she was the person he wanted to call if he was close to dying. Those who wish to read about the first friendly date of Cha Hae-In and Jin-Woo can simply turn to Chapters 155 to 156 of the Solo Leveling manhwa.
