After all, this movie held the 6th spot for highest highest-grossing movies in Japan until recently. This spot, however, just got taken from it. A new anime movie is breaking all records, and could even head for the Number 1 spot in Japan.
Film Red Was Big, But Demon Slayer’s Newest Movie Has Already Surpassed it
While One Piece is the best-selling manga series in the world, it can’t compete with Demon Slayer when it comes to movies. No manga or anime series can, for that matter, especially after seeing the numbers the newest movie has been doing.
Indeed, Demon Slayer’s newest movie, Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Part 1 — Akaza’s Return, has been a huge hit at the Japanese Box Office. This movie was released on July 12, and it’s still going strong. This new Demon Slayer movie has grossed over 20 billion yen in just 24 days — a number that took One Piece: Film Red over a year to achieve.
This number is only going to grow for Demon Slayer, especially as international releases are beginning in August for many countries in Asia. Many more countries, such as the USA, will also get this movie later in September. With all that said, it’s not impossible for this movie to go on to break the record for the biggest Japanese movie at the moment, which also happens to be another Demon Slayer movie, Mugen Train.
