Path of Exile 2 has many zones for players to explore, fight monsters in, and finish quests. What makes this system different from other similar games is that whenever one of these areas is entered by a player, they create an Instance, which randomly generates that area.
Instances all have unique layouts, loot, and enemies to fight, so every Instance feels different than the last. A lot of zones throughout the game have bosses that spawn randomly throughout an area and can be fought for very good potential loot drops. Here’s how to quickly restart an instance to respawn a boss and enemies to farm them.
How To Reset Instances in Path of Exile 2
Whenever you enter a zone for the first time, an Instance is made and can’t be reset while inside the Instance. To make a new Instance, you’ll need to head towards one of the entrances to another zone that is attached to that zone, but not a waypoint. Head over to the next nearby zone before turning around and reentering the zone you were just in. This will open up the Instance Manager menu, and the top option will be to make a new Instance.
Existing Instances do have a time limit before they naturally disappear, as seen in the Instance Manager menu.
While this method doesn’t reset the actual Instance, it does reset the zone, and any bosses or enemies in that zone will now respawn in our new Instance. Traveling to and from regions using Waypoints only takes you between existing Instances, and can’t be used to make new ones. That being said, Waypoints are almost always right next to the entrance of a zone, so teleporting to one will send you where you need to go to reset that zone easily.
Do Bosses in Path of Exile 2 Have Set Locations
Instances are randomly generated almost completely, with one of the few exceptions being the location of a boss. While the exact layout around a boss will vary between Instances, their general locations are always the same. This makes it easy to sprint straight to a boss and beat them before running back to reset the Instance.
Repeating this method can see you killing some of the most worthwhile targets in the game quickly, with all of them having the best drop rates of almost anything in that Instance. Bosses won’t continue to drop the unique quest items they drop the first time they are killed, but this method can be a great option for someone just looking to far for better gear or a good bit of XP.
