Nex Playground Discounted At All Major Retailers, But Amazon Has The Best Price

The Nex Playground is on sale for $189 (was $249) for Amazon Prime Day. Other major retailers–Walmart, Best Buy, and Target–are selling the family-friendly game console centered around motion controls for $199. Amazon’s price also shows $199, but if you click the 5% off coupon below the price, Amazon will shave an additional $10 from your total at checkout.

The $60 discount is the largest yet for the trendy gadget, but the $189 price isn’t an all-time low. That’s because the MSRP increased from $199 to $249 at the end of May. That said, previous sales only slashed $20 from the price, so the current deal is close to the best price yet ($179).

    $189 (was $249)

The Nex Playground uses a sensor to track your movements, allowing you to partake in a variety of dance, sports, and fitness games. It’s reminiscent of Microsoft’s Kinect for Xbox 360 and Xbox One.

Out of the box, the Nex Playground has five games:

    • Whack A Mole Deluxe: Smack the pesky moles as they pop up on your screen.
    • Party Fowl: Compete in a variety of minigames.
    • Fruit Ninja: Slice through fruit that’s thrown onto the screen.
    • Starri: A rhythm game that has you moving to the beat.
    • Go Keeper: Play as a goalkeeper in this arcade-style soccer game.

If you want additional games, you’ll have to sign up for a Play Pass. This costs $89 per year or $49 for three months and unlocks over 20 new titles, such as Elmo Says, Peppa Pig: Jump & Giggle, and Candy Land: Sugary Sprint. You’ll also find a game that puts a cool twist on Connect 4 and a unique version of Hungry Hungry Hippos.

Along with the console and five games, the Nex Playground comes with an HDMI cable, power cord, a removable camera cover, and a remote that’s used for navigating menu systems. Up to four players can use a single system simultaneously. If a friend or family member has a Nex Playground of their own, you can team up or play against them in online multiplayer.

An official travel case is available for $25 at Amazon.

Though we have yet to see the Nex Playground sell out at Amazon during other big promotions over the last year, it’s one of the best-selling products across toy and video game categories. With the bonus discount that’s not available at other retailers, it’s possible that this deal could disappear before Amazon’s sale ends on Friday night.

If you haven’t heard of the Nex Playground, the cube-shaped “active play system” has become a fixture on Amazon’s top charts during big sales. It was prominently featured during Amazon Gaming Week and the Big Spring Sale earlier this year, and it is in the spotlight once again during Amazon’s biggest annual sale.

Amazon’s list of the best-selling toys and games during Prime Day 2025 is filled with a lot of what you’d expect: large boxes of Crayola Colored Pencils for cheap, a 36-pack of Play-Doh, those wildly popular PicassoTile magnetic building sets, a Star Wars Lego set, one of the balance bikes for toddlers that looks like it was designed by Apple. Few pricey electronics crack the top charts during big sales, unless that electronic is a Toniebox or Nex Playground.

The Toniebox has been a popular interactive audio device for kids for years, but the Nex Playground’s success is a far more recent phenomenon. It launched in late 2023 and arrived at major retailers like Amazon last summer. According to the store page, Amazon has sold over 10,000 units in the past month. That figure, believe it or not, places it above any single PS5 console model: PS5 Slim (8,000+), PS5 Slim Digital (3,000+), PS5 Pro (5,000+), or even the discounted PS5 Slim Digital Call of Duty Bundle (1,000+).

Amazon Prime Day runs through Friday, July 11. If you’re interested in picking up some new games for your PS5, Nintendo Switch, or Xbox Series X, take a look at our roundup of the best Prime Day video game deals. We also have a lengthy roundup of the best Blu-ray deals that physical media collectors should check out. For more deals, GameSpot’s Prime Day hub collects all of our coverage in one place.
