July is turning out to be a crowded but exciting month for Pokemon fans. For one, Niantic and Scopely’s Pokemon GO will host its July 2025 Community Day on July 20 from 2–5 pm local time, centering on Pokemon Scarlet and Violet’s Duckling Pokemon Quaxly.
Pokemon will later host a digital Pokemon Presents event on July 22, wherein many fans are expecting to hear more news and features about suspected new Mega Evolutions in the upcoming Pokemon Legends: Z-A. However, a select few Pokemon fans will be able to learn more about Mega Evolution on July 24–27 if they’re attending California’s San Diego Comic Convention.

Pokemon’s Mega Evolution Experience Booth Explained
The 59th San Diego Comic Con, SDCC 2025, is expected to host over 130,000 attendees but, due to limited ticket availability, ticket prices, and space, only a select few Pokemon fans will be able to attend the convention and visit Pokemon’s Mega Evolution Experience Booth. Described as a “walk-through convention experience”, Pokemon’s Mega Evolution Experience Booth will have visitors learn more about Mega Evolution in Pokemon Legends: Z-A, the Pokemon Trading Card Game, and Pokemon GO. Mega Evolution hasn’t been present in a proper mainline Pokemon game since 2017’s Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, so it makes sense for Nintendo to be interested in reminding people of Mega Evolution’s mechanics.
At the Pokemon Mega Evolution Experience Booth, visitors will be able to take part in a series of interactive activities that will teach people about Mega Evolution. Once these activities are completed, people will be able to participate in special photo opportunities, Pokemon GO Mega Raids to take down a presumably Mega Evolved Venusaur, and receive Mega Evolution-themed merchandise. If visitors at the booth sign up for email updates, they’ll additionally be able to receive exclusive digital in-game rewards, including:
- 4,000 Trainer Points for Pokemon TCG Live
- 24 pack hourglasses for Pokemon TCG Pocket
- A platinum Mewtwo boost emblem and a 3-day limited license for Mega Mewtwo X or Mega Mewtwo Y for Pokemon UNITE
- 3,000 gems for Pokemon Masters EX
Potential Pokemon Legends: Z-A Tie-Ins at the SDCC Booth
With the July Pokemon Presents event taking place two days before SDCC begins, the Pokemon Mega Evolution Experience Booth may feature some tie-in information or features with new gameplay and narrative details revealed at the digital presentation. For example, it’s expected that Game Freak and The Pokemon Company will reveal new Mega Evolutions at Pokemon Presents following leaks released in March earlier this year.
These leaks weren’t confirmed by Game Freak or Nintendo, but they were released by credible leakers, so it is possible for Pokemon Legends: Z-A to feature 27 new Mega Evolutions on top of the preexisting 48 Mega Evolutions. These rumored new Mega Evolutions include:
- Mega Clefable
- Mega Starmie
- Mega Victreebell
- Mega Dragonite
- Mega Meganium
- Mega Feraligatr
- Mega Skarmory
- Mega Froslass
- Mega Emboar
- Mega Scolipede
- Mega Excadrill
- Mega Eelektross
- Mega Scrafty
- Mega Chandelure
- Mega Chesnaught
- Mega Delphox
- Mega Greninja
- Mega Pyroar
- Mega Malamar
- Mega Barbaracle
- Mega Dragalge
- Mega Hawlucha
- Mega Eternal Flower Floette
- Mega Zygarde
- Mega Drampa
- Mega Falinks
If the Pokemon Mega Evolution leaks turn out to be true, Game Freak and The Pokemon Company still may not showcase all 27 new Mega Evolutions during Pokemon Presents to keep a few more surprises left for Pokemon Legends: Z-A’s launch. With Z-A players returning to Kalos 12 years after Pokemon X and Y’s release, it would make sense for Nintendo to reveal Mega Chesnaught, Mega Delphox, and Mega Greninja and have them featured at the booth since they’re essentially the mascots of Kalos. Pokemon Presents and the booth may additionally showcase Mega Meganium, Mega Feraligatr, and Mega Emboar as Chikorita, Totodile, and Tepig will be Pokemon Legends: Z-A’s starters.
