How To Change Destiny 2 World Tiers For Brave, Legendary, Fabled, And Mythic Difficulty

With Destiny 2’s The Edge of Fate expansion came many new features. There’s the Portal, which helps you easily find activities to play with far fewer clicks than before. There are new Exotics, including a supremely overpowered Void scout rifle that’s proving invaluable through the campaign missions–especially on Legendary difficulty. There’s even the new Destiny 2 shooting range, where you can test your loadout. Then there are World Tiers, which allow you to adjust the level of difficulty and customize your experience in patrol zones and hunt for higher-tier weapons and gear.

There are several seasonal and weekly challenges that rely on heading to Kepler on Fabled difficulty or above. However, Fabled and Mythic difficulties are not automatically unlocked. In this guide we’ll detail how to unlock them, how to change the patrol zone difficulty, and why you might want to play at higher difficulties.

Here are all of the Destiny 2 World Tiers:

    • Brave
    • Legendary
    • Fabled (150 Power)
    • Mythic (200 Power)

How to unlock Destiny 2 Fabled and Mythic World Tiers

The Brave and Legendary World Tiers are available by default. To unlock Fabled and Mythic World Tiers, you will need to complete the campaign once on either Normal or Legendary difficulty. Completing the campaign on Legendary difficulty will have you end at or above Power level 100, making the shift to Fabled and above a touch less jarring.

You can change World Tiers from the launch screen

How to change Destiny 2 World Tiers

Changing the World Tier to give you more–or less–of a challenge is easy to do. Open the map and navigate to the World Tier option, and select the new option. If you’re landing on Kepler from another destination, you can select the World Tier via the large skull icon on the map.

Destiny 2 World Tier difficulty differences

Changing the World Tier changes related modifiers, which are put in place to adjust the difficulty. Here are all of the modifiers across the World Tiers and their effects:

    Brave

    • Brave difficulty has no reward multiplier in effect
    • No mission modifiers
    • No combatant adjustments

    Legendary

    • Legendary difficulty has a reward multiplier of x2
    • Greater fireteam size scales combatant difficulty and adds limitations on revives
    • Heavily shielded and highly aggressive combatants appear in great numbers
    • Combatants have more health and are more difficult to stun

    Fabled

    • Fabled difficulty has a reward multiplier of x3
    • Greater fireteam size scales combatant difficulty and adds limitations on revives
    • Heavily shielded and highly aggressive combatants appear in great numbers
    • Combatants have more health and are more difficult to stun
    • Combatants with banes are encountered more frequently
    • Player power is capped at 30 below combatants

    Mythic

    • Mythic difficulty has a reward multiplier of x4 (maximum)
    • Heavily shielded and highly aggressive combatants appear in great numbers
    • Radar is disabled
    • Combatants have more health and are more difficult to stun
    • Combatants with banes are encountered more frequently
    • Player power is capped at 40 below combatants

You’ll want to increase the World Tier while you’re playing Destiny 2 to get better gear. Alongside this, the Fabled and Mythic difficulties unlock new quests and rewards, including new armor set bonuses, shaders, emblems, and more. World Tiers are also tied to Triumphs, as some can only be progressed on specific difficulty levels. The reward multiplier increase means you will get more gear from activities, making farming specific weapons easier.

While you’re traversing Kepler, you may come across some chests that require an in-depth knowledge of an unfamiliar language, which require the location’s abilities to unlock them. After completing the campaign, you can also jump into the quest to get the Destiny 2 Graviton Spike, one of the game’s newest Exotic weapons.
