Ever since its official start in Chapter 1126 of the manga, Elbaf is already on its way to becoming perhaps the greatest arc in all of One Piece. The sheer number of reveals and details about the world and the Void Century that have been made in less than 40 chapters so far is already on the level of some of the best arcs in the entire story. Many believed Egghead to be the arc that revealed the most, but Elbaf is definitely going to dethrone it.
As such, some of the most incredible details have been revealed in the flashback that started in Chapter 1151 of One Piece. Though this primarily deals with Loki’s life and the reason why he ended up being Elbaf’s greatest villain, it also revealed much about the state of the world all those decades ago. At the current moment, this flashback promises to explain everything by bringing together all the loose ends.

With the start of Loki’s flashback, fans were able to get a lot more context into Elbaf’s past and how it ended up being the way that it is. The majority of the arc so far has focused more on Harald, showing how the once-rambunctious King of Elbaf eventually turned into the good-natured man who came to be remembered as the greatest monarch that the country had ever had.
There was quite a lot of mystery involved in this flashback, most notably dealing with Loki’s birth and appearance, since it was due to his strange eyes and horns that led everyone, including his mother, to consider him a demon. The strange black eyes of Loki have been met with a lot of speculation, with most considering them to be indicative of his true powers. However, during the time of his son’s birth, Harald was away from Elbaf on his journey to connect to the many races of the world in order to create bonds and encourage trade relationships.
This meant that he couldn’t be present for much of his son’s formative years, but his diplomacy eventually bore fruit as people from across the world actively helped Elbaf in times of strife. However, this entire time, there were hints of a secret mission as well, since Harald went to the Reverie multiple times, where he would meet some of the most important characters in the series, namely Rocks D. Xebec and Shanks. In the former Reverie, he visited in secret to find out if it was worth Elbaf’s time to join the fold of the World Government.
Here, he seems to have garnered a friendship with Xebec, as Chapter 1154 shows that they knew of one another beforehand, with Xebec asking for Harald directly. While the details of what exactly went down here remain vague for now, this could also connect back to Brook and his mysterious connection to Gunko, since the two knew each other decades ago. The most common and likely theory is that Brook was the knight serving the kingdom of which Gunko was the princess, placing him far more into this whole thing than previously thought.
Well, it’s my dream to be a pirate, you see!
In the latter Reverie, or perhaps even before that, Harald befriended Shanks, which was implied earlier on when Shanks visited Scopper before he had even lost his arm. Here, the two became well acquainted but there was something that Shanks wanted to talk to Harald about which he couldn’t do during the Reverie, so he made his way to Elbaf. The exact details of this are impossible to know until they’re revealed, but it shows that there is much more going on behind the scenes than everyone knows.
So, just by putting these things together, it’s clear to see that the backstories of Loki, Brook, Harald, Shanks, and Xebec are intertwined somehow, and that the end of this flashback will bring all of these major players together in a massive way. Until then, fans can only wait to see what Oda has in store, but once revealed, it is likely to shake the foundations of the One Piece world.

Elbaf Arc’s Ultimate Revelations
- The plot points of Loki’s flashback likely hint at how the Elbaf arc will end.
As of now, the heroes are in quite a precarious situation. With the Gods’ Knights and Imu making their appearance on the island, it’s clear to see that the heroes are truly in for the greatest battle in their entire time on the Grand Line. However, the reason the flashback is important for the way the arc will play out is because it could reveal crucial details that give a look at Imu’s true plan and perhaps even a way to counter their seemingly unreachable power.
However, one of the most important things that can be revealed in the backstory is the truth behind the Giant’s version of Nika, who is remembered on Elbaf as both a liberator and a destroyer. Because of this, the legendary Devil Fruit passed down through the Royal Family of the island will likely be revealed, showing just how fearsome of a power Loki truly has.
