Design
The Z Fold 7 has shed a lot of weight and is now slimmer than its predecessors, measuring 4.2mm when unfolded. This does come with a drawback, as there is no more room left to accommodate the S Pen, as Samsung says people aren’t using the stylus as much anyway. The front display gets the upgraded Gorilla Glass Victus Ceramic 2 mounted on an aluminum frame.
Samsung has managed to fit a bigger 8-inch screen on the Z Fold 7 while keeping it lighter than the S25 Ultra. The slimmer profile means the battery hasn’t seen any changes at 4400mAh. They have also parted ways with the under-display front camera of the Z Fold 6 for a higher-quality traditional hole-punch approach, which produces superior results and is worth the trade-off.
Display
Both the cover and the inward display have been stretched a bit, with the former now being 6.5 inches (0.2mm bump). The resolution has been increased to 1080 x 2520 pixels with a PPI of 422. The display quality and peak brightness remain unchanged, which were already class-leading. This is the one area where fewer upgrades have been made over the predecessor. That being said, the crease is now less prominent and is likely to hold up over time, giving a more seamless feel when gliding over it.

Internals
We get to see the newer Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset on the upcoming flagship, which is based on a tighter 3nm architecture. Upon running synthetic benchmarks, the Z Fold came on top with 25% higher scores than the Fold 6, which should translate to smoother and snappier overall performance while maintaining the same battery efficiency as the Fold 6. Considering Samsung has managed to shave off a few extra grams on this mammoth device while still making it faster is a major talking point.
