Over 100 Games Being Delisted From Playstation Store

Japanese publisher Entergram has revealed plans to delist more than 100 PS4 and PS Vita games from the Japanese PlayStation Store later this year. The PlayStation Store boasts a wide lineup of games for players to pick up and try out, ranging from big-name AAA games to a plethora of releases from indie studios and smaller developers. The online storefront has been Sony’s main platform for selling digital games since its introduction on the PlayStation 3 in 2006, with each subsequent Sony console and handheld featuring the shop. However, the store can vary wildly based on a player’s region.

Much like many other online storefronts, regional versions of the PlayStation Store often contain games that other parts of the world cannot access. The Japanese PlayStation Store is a particular hub for region-exclusive games, with many developers choosing not to release their games worldwide. Many regions also boast different pricing schemes for their games, with fans recently speaking out against Sony raising PlayStation Store prices in Brazil and Turkey. Now, a Japanese publisher is set to remove over 100 games from the platform.

Entergram Delisting Over 100 Games from PlayStation Store

As reported by ComicBook, Japanese publisher Entergram has revealed that the publisher will be delisting 106 different games later this year. The studio shared a list of 106 different games for both the PS4 and PS Vita that are set to be delisted from the PlayStation Store on September 30, simply stating that it is “ending sales” for the games. The list of Entergram games being delisted is notably exclusive to the Japanese PlayStation Store, with none of the featured games available outside of Japan.

While the mass delisting is unlikely to affect many PlayStation fans outside of Japan, the move will still make a large quantity of games unavailable for digital purchase. Games preservation has been a major talking point among fans throughout recent years, with mass delistings often causing some less popular games to be lost to time. The growing concern about the preservation of games has even led to the rise of major movements like the recent “Stop Killing Games” petition, which has accrued over one million signatures.

Entergram’s new PlayStation Store delisting comes as the Sony storefront has seen some major releases throughout the past few months. Forza Horizon 5 became the first game in the formerly Xbox-exclusive franchise to launch on a PlayStation console, quickly seeing huge success on the PS5. Rumors have also heavily suggested that another Xbox exclusive may soon make its way onto a PlayStation console, suggesting that a Halo game may be coming to PS5 in the near future. Entergram’s delisting, while not featuring any big-name games, will still be a sizable loss for the PlayStation Store.
