Gold is one of may resources Donkey Kong Bananza players must gather (and spend) to venture deeper into the core of the planet. At first, you can use Gold to fund getaways and special construction projects from the Fractones. But eventually, you will hit a wall in the Forbidden Layer, which requires players to spend nearly 20,000 Gold to progress through the level.

The best way to farm gold in Donkey Kong Bananza is to simply destroy terrain as fast as you can, as you will get random gold drops, gold clusters, and treasure chests as you dig. But to boost your gold income even further, you can equip a specific Tie for Donkey Kong, a specific outfit for Pauline, or take advantage of an exploit that lets players farm gold infinitely in DK Bananza.
Equip The Treasure Tie To Find More Chests
The Treasure Tie is an early Donkey Kong costume unlock that you can get in the Lagoon layer, and it’s worth unlocking as soon as you can. This tie adds a 10% chance to spawn a Treasure Chest while digging through any terrain.
Treasure Chests can contain a variety of collectibles, but most of the time, they will drop a pile of gold. The more chests you find, the more gold you can potentially earn, so be sure to stop by the Lagoon layer Style Shop to purchase this tie for DK for 1x Anomalocaris fossil, which can be found within the Lagoon layer itself.
Equip Pauline’s Double Gold Outfit
Pauline also has an outfit that can boost your gold in Donkey Kong Bananza, but you won’t be able to unlock it for quite a while. The Gold-Mining Gear simply doubles all of your gold income across the board, which makes it an extremely useful outfit for Pauline in DK Bananza.

Donkey Kong Bananza: Best Skills To Unlock First
Of the ten starting skills Donkey Kong Bananza players can unlock, these are the best skills to get first in DK Bananza (and which you should avoid).
Unfortunately, the Gold-Mining Gear can only be unlocked after you beat the game’s main story, so there is no way to get this Pauline outfit early in DK Bananza. However, it’s a great one to keep equipped in the post-game to make it easier to pay for unlockables, getaways, and other things that require heaps of gold.
Donkey Kong Bananza Gold Farming Exploit
Throughout the game, you may come across several Hand Slap platforms that raise a pillar beneath Donkey Kong’s feet. If the column is not made out of metal or other indestructible material, Donkey Kong can smash downward to easily earn a bit of Gold. The hand slap platform will still appear at the bottom, where DK can raise the pillar again and repeat this process infinitely.
This is a relatively slow way to farm gold, but if you have the Gold-Mining Gear for Pauline, the gold gains become much more noticeable.
Though this technically provides a way to infinitely destroy terrain and proc Treasure Chests and gold spawns from digging, it is slightly more efficient to destroy normal terrain, especially if you have an outfit that extends DK’s Bananza timer.
If you run out of terrain to destroy, or just want something simple you can repeat over and over again to farm gold while doing something else, find one of these hand slap pillars and slap, destroy, then slap until you are satisfied with your gold reserves!
