If you enjoy trading card games like Magic: The Gathering, Pokemon, Star Wars Unlimited, etc., there’s a good chance you currently have a pile of unsorted cards sitting somewhere in your house, waiting for you to file away in your bulk boxes or trade binders. Sorting those piles card by card is not fun, but a new company called CardMill–which begins a Kickstarter campaign tomorrow for a new sorting device of the same name–is saying they can save you from your sorting.
The CardMill sorting device will automatically sort piles of up to 300 cards at a time, while logging them in a new web-based portal for access whenever needed. The device can be programmed to sort cards by set, by color, by type, by the alphabet, and more, according to CardMill’s official website.
The Kickstarter page says that the device will support the following games, with support for more games “on the way”:
- Magic: The Gathering
- Pokémon
- Yu-Gi-Oh!
- Disney Lorcana
- One Piece
- Star Wars Unlimited
- Flesh and Blood
The device uses what the Kickstarter page describes as “AI-powered card recognition” that “learns and grows with your collection.” The web portal, meanwhile, will also offer “up-to-date TCGPlayer pricing” for those looking to sell cards in their collections.
The CardMill Kickstarter begins July 22 at 9 AM CDT according to the official website, which translates to 7 AM PDT / 10 AM EDT. The first 1000 backers will receive the CardMill scanning device for $350, while all other backers will get it for $400. Shipments are expected to begin in December.
