The freshly released cinematic reveal trailer for Battlefield 6 has already surpassed the Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 reveal trailer’s likes on YouTube in just a single hour. There’s been a flurry of Battlefield 6 buzz since EA finally confirmed the game’s official title yesterday in teasing today’s thrilling trailer. This modern-day-set Battlefield game has been in playtesting for several months, and leaks have pointed toward the game having a separate free-to-play battle royale mode.
The reveal of Black Ops 7 was the closing act of Xbox’s June showcase last month. It’s the second time Call of Duty fans are getting back-to-back subseries entries, following Modern Warfare 2 and MW3 in 2022 and 2023, respectively. Black Ops 7 is a futuristic entry that will look to serve as both a follow-up to last year’s Black Ops 6 and a sequel to the 2012 classic, Black Ops 2. The reveal trailer confirmed the return of David Mason, whose most recent appearance was in BO2, and the trailer’s trippy and surreal visuals are much in-line with Black Ops 3, Black Ops Cold War, and BO6‘s campaigns.

It May Not Look Like It, But Battlefield 6 and Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Are Fighting Over the Same Territory
This year’s new CoD title, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, will be going head-to-head with the next Battlefield game in the coming months.
With Battlefield 6 likely committing to a 2025 release and putting out its reveal trailer, FPS fans are already pitting it against Call of Duty. Reddit user Realistic_Access posted in the Battlefield subreddit pointing out that the likes on Battlefield 6‘s trailer have surpassed Black Ops 7‘s reveal on YouTube just one hour after going live. The post shows that the Call of Duty trailer has a whopping 40 million views and just 140,000 likes, while Battlefield 6 had, at the time, under 18,000 views with 194,000 likes. This is likely due to the trailer being a YouTube Premiere, which allowed fans to like the video before it went live. Realistic_Access says that the Premiere had around 40,000 likes before the trailer dropped, which still puts it ahead of Black Ops 7‘s trailer. The Battlefield 6 trailer numbers have ballooned since, and now sports close to 2.5 million views with 268,000 likes.
Battlefield 6’s Trailer Outpaces Black Ops 7’s Likes
It’s certainly worth noting that the Black Ops 7 trailer has been out for a month and a half compared to the Battlefield 6 trailer’s few hours. Considering the latter is much more packed with blow-your-hair-back action compared to Black Ops 7‘s much slower, headier reveal, it’s easy to see how Battlefield 6 has garnered more likes from FPS lovers. COD fans potentially not being as excited to have two Black Ops games in a row could also have played a factor, despite the BO7 trailer confirming the game will feature different characters and a futuristic setting, making it stand apart from Black Ops 6. Furthermore, despite Battlefield 2042‘s disappointing launch, it’s been four years since it was released, allowing for fans of the franchise to grow hungrier for Battlefield 6.
There’s a lot happening in the worlds of Call of Duty and Battlefield at the moment. BO6 is a few weeks away from entering Season 5, while a COD Next event is rumored to be held in September and will divulge more info about Black Ops 7. On the Battlefield 6 side of the fence, the game will have its multiplayer reveal on July 31, with a beta confirmed to be happening at some point before its rumored October release.
