The Qua Nilus II is a 900 RPM Adaptive SMG that was introduced in Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate. It’s a Portal activity weapon that anyone can get, and if you don’t have a solid Strand SMG yet, then this one is a solid choice. The Qua Nilus is a powerhouse in close range, and with the right perks, it can easily become a mainstay in any Guardian’s arsenal.
This guide covers a couple of the god rolls players should look out for when farming for the Qua Nilus II. This weapon may not have the same versatility as something like the Ahab Char in Destiny 2, but for all the SMG lovers out there, this is definitely one weapon to look out for.

As usual, the best first and second-column perks for the Qua Nilus are completely subjective, but we would recommend getting Muzzles and Magazine perks that increase the weapon’s Range stat. This way, you’ll be able to engage enemies from farther away without seeing a significant DPS loss.
Encore is an excellent perk for the Qua Nilus II specifically because it boosts the weapon’s Range, Stability, and Accuracy after every precision kill. This pairs nicely with Hatchling, which spawns Threadlings with every precision kill or rapid kill with the weapon.
Slice is another great pick. After you activate your class ability, your weapon will inflict Sever on any target it hits. Sever is a Strand debuff that decreases the damage enemies deal — apart from improving your survivability, this also lets you take advantage of any effect that affects Darkness-debuffed targets.
Proximity Power is great if you want to use a melee-heavy build in Destiny 2. It will boost your Melee stat when you’re near enemies, and if you combine this with Surrounded, you’ll dish out more damage from both melee abilities and the Qua Nilus II itself. If you’re not a fan of Surrounded, then Swashbuckler makes for a nice alternative.
Destiny 2 Qua Nilus PvP God Roll
Admittedly, the Qua Nilus isn’t as good in PvP as it is in PvE, and many other SMGs (like the one from the Desert Perpetual raid) outshine it when fighting in the Crucible. However, if you truly want to use this weapon against other players, then a max Range roll with Encore and Swashbuckler should serve you well.
An Encore/Swashbuckler roll will let you snowball in 6v6 Crucible modes, provided you can win your fights consistently. If you want to use it for 3v3 modes, or if you want a Qua Nilus II PvP roll that’s a bit more reliable, get one with Dynamic Sway Reduction instead of Encore.
