The recent Season 5 teaser for Call of Duty: Warzone may be teasing the arrival of a brand-new map. Since last fall, many have theorized that Avalon would be the next map to come to the battle royale spin-off. Since the original launch back in 2020, Call of Duty: Warzone has featured several maps, and the potential arrival of a fresh one would be exciting.
Ahead of Warzone Season 5, taking a look back at the various maps that have been part of the game could offer a refresher of what locations the game has featured so far. If Avalon is added to Warzone, it would be an exciting shake-up, but only time will tell how it compares to past maps.

Some of the Call of Duty: Warzone community is asking for a helpful change to the game that will hopefully be acknowledged soon.
S-Tier: Best All Around
Regarded by many longtime Warzone players as the best Battle Royale map, Verdansk finally came back in April after years in the vault. What makes Verdansk such a strong design is that it’s one of the most well-balanced of the Warzone maps. With its diverse POIs, Verdansk is a map that offers something for a variety of different players. From face-to-face combat lovers to those who prefer sniping, the map has locations that appeal to every fighting style. Superstore brings the action for close-quarters encounters, while Hospital is better for stealthier approaches. As the first map featured in the game, it holds a special place in a lot of players’ hearts.
A-Tier: Close to Perfect, But Not Quite
- Rebirth Island
- Verdansk 84
- Al Mazrah
There is debate about whether Rebirth Island has overstayed its welcome in Resurgence, but even if the mode is in need of a fresh map, that doesn’t take away from the fact that it brings sweat-inducing action. Its reputation as a sweaty experience isn’t for everyone, but the cramped nature of the map is great for those who love to be forced face-to-face with opponents. Verdansk 84 was a fun nostalgic addition to the game, but the sameness it shared with the original version kept it from being as exciting as it could be. The map was only around for less than a year, but it was an interesting attempt to bring back Verdansk in a fresh way.
Al Mazrah shared a few design similarities with Verdansk, as the two are centered around a central urban POI. However, Al Mazrah tried something different by not only increasing the size of the map, but making it visually unique, too. Al Mazrah is an eye-catching map, but it still lacks the overall gameplay versatility that continues to make Verdansk so beloved.
B-Tier: Fun, But Could Use Some Improvement
- Fortune’s Keep
- Ashika Island
- Vondel
- Urzikstan
These four maps boasted interesting concepts that held a lot of promise, but when it comes to the overall design, they didn’t have the same kind of satisfying flow as S-Tier and A-Tier maps. Fortune’s Keep and Vondel in particular suffered from camping problems. Ashika Island may be one of Warzone‘s most visually appealing maps, but its layout also felt clunky at times, which could be frustrating. Urzikstan could potentially be A-Tier, but the overall design could have benefited from more POIs.
C-Tier: Far From Ideal Gameplay
Caldera is regarded by many as one of Warzone‘s worst maps, with its strange design being much of the problem. From a giant mountain in the middle of the map to expanses of nothing of note between POIs, Caldera was a compelling idea that, unfortunately, failed to connect. Area 99’s faults lie in many of its areas feeling the same, while the map also lacks sufficient cover, creating more of a frustrating experience for a lot of players than a fun one.
