Base building is one of the major mechanics in Grounded 2 that lets players create safe houses, away from the dangers of the park, to bank all their loot. Leaving all your consumables or cooking ware out in the open may get spoiled quickly or eaten by other bugs that come crawling to your location. However, you’ll first need to get enough Raw Science to purchase a building set from the Ranger Station, inside the first outpost you visit in the park.

How to Get Building Set in Grounded 2
To start making your base in Grounded 2, first, you’ll need to scout out a base location that’s near some valuable resources but a bit isolated from hostile bugs. One of the common locations for a base at the start of the game is outside the first Ranger Outpost you visit. Once you’ve finalized the location, it’s time to start builidng you base.
First, you’ll need to learn the recipe to build a multi-story base from the Science Shop in the Range Station. Head inside the Ranger Outpost and interact with the Station (terminal) inside to enter the Science Shop. From here, purchase the blueprint for Multi-Story Bases for 1000 Raw Science.
The next thing you need to do is cut some grass, get grass planks from it, and scan it using the Resource Analyzer to get Grass Walls and Doors blueprints. Once you have all the blueprints, it’s time to plan out your base in Grounded 2.
How to Build a Base in Grounded 2
First, you’ll need to plan out your base structure by heading into the Construction mode and laying out tiles to construct later. Here’s a step-by-step instruction on building your early base in Grounded 2.
- Place some Grass Floor to form either a 4×4, 5×5, or 6×6 grid, depending on how big you want your base to be.
- Next, place walls around the perimeter of the Grass Floor tiles you’ve just laid down. To let some natural light in, you can set up walls with windows instead. You can either
- The last thing you’ll want to do is place some Grass Floor tiles for the roof, which will take the same number of tiles as the floor if you’re going for a basic block base structure.
Once you’re done planning out your base, get some Grass Plants by chopping down grass nearby. Your character can carry five planks max, but you can ride the Ant Buggy and stow more planks on it. Once you can enough, place them on your planned base to start materializing floors and walls. Now you’ll have a base ready to go.
You can place some lighting inside your base and place a Lean-to to sleep in Grounded 2.
