Jujutsu Kaisen and My Hero Academia have, over the years, become household names in the anime and manga world. Anyone, who knows remotely anything about anime knows about these two absolute hits. These series have been huge highlights in their generation, but sadly, they have both come to an end. With two big manga series ending, a relatively new one is rising in Weekly Shonen Jump, and it seems they have their replacement already.
Jujutsu Kaisen and My Hero Academia Both Ended in 2024
These Two Manga Were Among The Biggest In The Magazine
2024 was a sad year for fans of Shonen manga. Two of the biggest shonen manga ended that year, and almost back-to-back, which made it even worse. These two series are none other than My Hero Academia and Jujutsu Kaisen.
Both series were deeply beloved by readers, and each had its own dedicated fanbase. My Hero Academia ran for 10 years, from 2014 to 2024. Jujutsu Kaisen had a far shorter lifespan in comparison. The manga started in 2018, so the story lasted just 6 years.
That said, both of these series still have anime content on the way. My Hero Academia is getting its final season this year, while Jujutsu Kaisen still has some time before it wraps up. JJK’s Season 3 is anticipated for next year, and more seasons will be on the way after that as well.
But even with all of that, both series have left a gap in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump. Interestingly enough, a new series has been rising to replace them as Shonen Jump’s new big hit.
Shonen Jump Has a New Big Hit Manga
Ichi The Witch Already Has 700k Copies in Circulation with 4 Volumes
Ichi The Witch is a relatively new series for Shonen Jump. This manga actually started around the time Jujutsu Kaisen and My Hero Academia ended. Its first chapter dropped on September 9, 2024, to be precise.
This series really came at the perfect moment, and it’s actually been going quite strong since then. The first year is probably the hardest phase for any manga, and if numbers aren’t good, it could be cancelled at any moment. Ichi the Witch has yet to hit the one-year mark, but the series is already showing great potential.
The manga has amassed four volumes to date, and the sales are pretty good for a brand-new series with no anime adaptation. At the moment, the manga has 700,000 volumes in circulation.
Ichi the Witch will only grow from here onward, and if it does eventually get a good anime adaptation, it could definitely reach the level of previous Shonen Jump hits like My Hero Academia and Jujutsu Kaisen. This is something that Shonen Jump desperately needs, especially now that Sakamoto Days is ending too, and it can’t indefinitely rely on One Piece.
Where To Read My Hero Academia, Jujutsu Kaisen, and Ichi the Witch?
All Available on Manga Plus
My Hero Academia, as well as Jujutsu Kaisen, both concluded last year. My Hero Academia has 430 chapters in total, while Jujutsu Kaisen is shorter, with just 271. Both of these series can be found on Manga Plus to read.
Meanwhile, Ichi the Witch is still ongoing, and has over 40 chapters available at the moment, with more coming each week. The manga can also be found on Manga Plus, where it gets weekly releases.
