Pokemon GO has bombarded players with tons of events this summer. Not only did the mobile game celebrate its 9th anniversary this past July, but events like the Water Festival kept the Pokedex expanding with new critters, and now Dynamax’s time in the limelight is about to end with the Max Finale event featuring Eternatus. The event plans to end the focus on the mechanic with a bang as every Gigantamax Pokemon, along with Zamazenta and Zacian, will be available to catch for a limited time as part of it. There’s not much more fans of the Galar region could ask for.
Just like how Pokemon GO kept Mega Evolution around past Generation 7, Dynamax certainly won’t be going anywhere even after Max Finale ends. Players can look forward to the large roster of Dynamax Pokemon growing in frequent updates at the very least. It begs the question as to what will be the focus of the next several seasons to come, though. It seems that a leak suggests that Paldea is next with Ogerpon in tow, to the delight of all of her fans.
Why Ogerpon is Going to Be Important For Battles in Pokemon GO
Ogerpon Was Found Within Update Data for Pokemon GO
With plenty of mobile games, dataminers typically find new features in update data, and Pokemon GO is no exception. One group has claimed that a list of Paldea Pokemon might serve as a hint to which critters will be added to the game soon. Not only were there a number of Paradox Pokemon found on the list, but so were a number of prominent Legendaries like Terapagos and Ogerpon. Ogerpon is a force to be reckoned with in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet despite her cute appearance, and this likely won’t change much in Pokemon GO. Players can find a list of Ogerpon’s stats below.
- HP: 80
- Attack: 120
- Defense: 84
- Special Attack: 60
- Special Defense: 96
- Speed: 110
Ogerpon’s stats will need to be adapted to suit Pokemon GO‘s more simplified version, but there’s strong evidence to suggest that she’ll keep her strong Attack while sporting a decent Stamina and Defense on top of it. Everything else will depend on her Fast Attacks.
One reason Ogerpon is such a special creature is her unique mask mechanic, where a simple mask can change her type between Grass, Water, Fire, and Rock. On top of that, the mask takes a dramatic change whenever Ogerpon Terastallizes, which might come sooner rather than later to Pokemon GO if the rest of the leak is to be believed. After all, Terapagos is part of the same leak Ogerpon was found in, and Terapagos isn’t much without its Tera and Stellar forms. The only catch is that Pokemon GO leaks don’t necessarily confirm what’s coming next to the game, as these creatures and any other discovered features could be included in the data for many developmental reasons.
Good stats and an interesting and flexible mechanic aren’t the only reasons why Ogerpon’s potential arrival in Pokemon GO in the near future is important. After The Teal Mask DLC, many fans became endeared to the Mask Pokemon after hearing about the history of Ogerpon and her masks. As a result, many players will want to catch her, which means raids with her will be well-populated for at least a short while. If her stats are just as desirable as they are in Scarlet and Violet, then fans should get used to seeing her in gyms and other prominent battles for the foreseeable future.
If the recent Pokemon leaks are anything to go by, then if these Paldea critters are truly coming to Pokemon GO soon, it may be as a final farewell to Generation 9 before Generation 10 kicks off potentially next year. Of course, not every leak is credible, so fans should hope for the best while keeping their eyes on the official channels for proper announcements when the time is right.
