This article contains spoilers for Jujutsu Kaisen’s Ending.
Gege Akutami is the talented creator of the Jujutsu Kaisen manga — a series that will be remembered for years to come as one of the best modern shonen.
Jujutsu Kaisen was wildly popular during its incredible run, but since its ending, the series hasn’t received much new content. Recently, however, the creator dropped a huge update about his struggles with the ending, and fans might want to know what issues he suffered from.
Jujutsu Kaisen Ended Last Year With Chapter 271
The Shinjuku Showdown Arc Was Finally Concluded
Jujutsu Kaisen is a manga series that took the world by storm. The manga was such a massive success that its sales actually surpassed those of One Piece for a couple of years, which is no small feat in the manga industry.
Jujutsu Kaisen sadly came to an end last year, in late 2024. While it was a thrilling ride to the end, the series’ ending felt rushed to many. After all, some plot points were fully discarded by the time Gege dropped the curtain on the story, such as the Merger.
Now, with the manga over, fans only have one thing they’re looking forward to, and that’s Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3. This new season might take a whole lot longer than expected, given that it’s confirmed not to be releasing this year. Nevertheless, it’s going to be amazing when it comes out.
Gege Akutami Drops a New Message About His Manga’s Ending
- Gege Fell Very Ill Near JJK’s End
- Gege’s Message For Oda Was Revealed During One Piece Day
Many fans were surprised to see something new from Jujutsu Kaisen’s creator, Gege Akutami, during One Piece Day.
After all, One Piece Day is an event that solely focuses on One Piece and where big projects are revealed. Gege, however, was very involved this year.
Gege drew some beautiful illustrations for a few One Piece characters called the 5 Elders. These 5 illustrations are all stunning and very detailed.
That aside, Gege actually also dropped a huge message for fans. This message reveals that Gege fell very ill near the end of JJK’s manga serialization. This explains a lot concerning the manga, and why it felt rushed towards the end.
Thankfully for Gege, however, he had some help from Oda, who recommended a great hospital to him. These new illustrations are like a thank you from Gege to Oda.
Here’s Gege’s full statement:
“Toward the end of the Jujutsu Kaisen serialization, I fell ill and was in a dire situation. Oda-sensei kindly introduced me to a hospital. After making a full recovery and wrapping up the serialization, I wanted to express my gratitude, but couldn’t think of any suitable gift. After some twists and turns, I decided to repay the favor through my work.
Favorite part: I’m glad I got to draw St. Nusjuro. When I received the color specifications for the five characters, I was blown away, but the process of arranging colors that I wouldn’t have thought of myself was refreshing.”
