Deadzone: Rogue is an arcade rogue-like FPS where players will be pitted against swarms of hostile robots in deep space. The enemies will get increasingly tough as players clear area after area before reaching the boss at the end of the zone. While there is a wide variety of firearms to choose from, players who prefer melee combat can create an overpowered melee build that can one-shot enemies while helping them survive hordes of enemies.
Best Augment for Melee Build in Deadzone Rogue
One of the first power-ups you’ll receive in Deadzone Rogue will be Augments, which will be the basis of your character’s build. At the time of writing, you’ll have the option to choose between Hipfire: Elemental, Ammo: Crit, and Aiming: Weakpoint. You should choose Hipfire: Elemental Augment, as it’ll grant +50% elemental proc damage and +100 proc chance, with a +20 boost in movement speed and -20% hipfire spread reduction.
Since our melee build will utilize elements for increased damage and AOE attacks, this Augment will work perfectly. The increased speed is a great bonus for quickly reaching enemies within an area.
Best Weapon for Melee Build
By default, players will have a level one knife to melee with at the start. This will one-shot enemies in the first couple of rooms, but as they get tougher, you’ll need to switch to an axe for increased damage. The axe is a superior melee weapon that offers more damage, without decreasing the swing speed.
Make sure to be on the lookout for a better version of the axe dropped by enemies that offer elemental attacks like chain lightning. If you don’t find a better version, upgrade your current axe once every two levels to boost its damage against stronger enemies.
Best Perks for Melee Build
The main perk this melee build revolves around is the Ghost Blade, which activates stealth on every melee kill. It also grants a +45% increase in melee damage, which is one of the stats we’ll be focusing on accumulating.
Since your melee attacks will one-shot most of the enemies, you’ll be invisible most of the time, and enemies won’t be engaging you. So, you won’t need to worry about taking any damage and can dispatch enemies quickly in a room. Here are some other perks you can also acquire in a run to enhance this melee build.
- Backstab: +45% melee damage & +50% more melee damage to enemies while backstabbing.
- Honed Edge: +45% melee damage & +40% proc chance with melee weapons.
- Warstride: +45% melee damage & +20% melee lunge distance & +15% melee attack radius.
Best Items for Melee Build in Deadzone Rogue
After clearing each room, players will be able to pick items that will come with different buffs. Similar to perks, these will be randomized but will feature the most relevant items based on the build you’re trying to make. Here are the best items that you should have for the best melee build in Deadzone Rogue.
- Power Bank: +30% Proc Chance.
- Afterburners: +50 movement speed 1 second after dashing.
- Hair Dryer: Enemies spread elemental debuffs over 8 meters on death.
- Android Eye: +25 damage to enemies nearby.
- Wrist Vanes: +40% melee damage for 3 seconds after dashing.
