Over a year after its breakout success on Amazon Prime, fans were given their first look at Fallout Season 2 during Gamescom Opening Night Live. With Fallout Season 2 set to take Lucy, Maximus, and the Ghoul to New Vegas in pursuit of Hank MacLean, there is a lot of room for the new season to reference iconic moments from the fan-favorite entry in the Fallout series. Based on what was shown so far, Lucy and the Ghoul may be committing a cardinal sin that many first-time Fallout: New Vegas players fall victim to.
Fallout Season 2 premieres on December 17, 2025.
Fans of New Vegas will likely recognize several classic parts of the game featured in the Fallout Season 2 trailer. From the reveal of the New Vegas strip and Mr. House, to Caesar’s Legion, and even the Novac dinosaur, Fallout Season 2 seems to be checking a lot of items off of fans’ wish lists. The final shot of the trailer puts Lucy and the Ghoul face-to-face with the terrifying Deathclaw, one of the Mojave Wasteland’s strongest enemies, which are most often found around Quarry Junction, suggesting the characters have stumbled into New Vegas‘ biggest roadblock.
Fallout Season 2’s Trailer Hints at Lucy and The Ghoul Taking an Unfortunate Route to New Vegas
Fallout: New Vegas’ Quarry Junction is Infamous for its Deathclaws
By far one of the most dangerous places in Fallout: New Vegas‘ Mojave Wasteland is Quarry Junction. The location has become infamous among Fallout fans for the nest of Deathclaws that call it home. Aside from the standard Deathclaw, several variations of this monster can be found in Quarry Junction, including:
- Deathclaw Mother
- Deathclaw Alpha Male
- Young Deathclaw
As such, players are advised to steer clear of Quarry Junction until they have significantly improved gear like Power Armor and weapons that can handle the Deathclaw Mother and Alpha Male’s double-to-triple health increase. Unfortunately for Lucy and the Ghoul, it’s easy to cross into this Deathclaw haven accidentally while heading toward the New Vegas strip, since Quarry Junction is situated just to the southwest of the strip, meaning the pair could easily follow a path right through the junction if they are heading to New Vegas from Goodsprings.
Quarry Junction is worth exploring in Fallout: New Vegas‘ late game since players can find a Fat Man along with Mini Nukes there.
Fallout Season 2 Could Pay Homage to New Vegas’ Thoughtful Level Design
The location of Quarry Junction in Fallout: New Vegas primarily serves as part of developer Obsidian Entertainment’s fantastic level design. Since players start the game in Goodsprings, putting a Deathclaw-filled location between the starting town and the New Vegas strip prevents players from simply rushing straight there from the start. Instead, players are encouraged to follow the main story quest to level up and get better gear before tackling the area around New Vegas, and dying to a Deathclaw in Quarry Junction serves as a roadblock without physically sectioning off part of the map.
Fallout Season 2 has the perfect opportunity to reference this game design choice with the route Lucy and the Ghoul take to reach New Vegas. Perhaps the pair initially tries to reach the strip through Quarry Junction, only to flee after encountering a Deathclaw, as shown at the end of the recent trailer. Then, they might follow the more traditional route from the game and head toward Primm to the south before making their way west toward Novac, which is confirmed to be in the season via the giant Dinky the T-Rex roadside attraction that stands just outside the settlement. Following this route would mirror the experiences many first-time Fallout: New Vegas players likely had, which supports Lucy’s character arc as a naive, newly emerged Vault Dweller that began in Season 1.
