Helldivers 2 has three fronts in the galactic map for players to fight the enemies of democracy. Each faction comes with unique enemies, and players will need to adapt their build and playstyle to counter the enemy they are going up against.
No matter what you’re fighting, the main goal of any operation is to win to help the battle for the planet and either claim it for Super Earth or keep it under that banner. Here is the easiest faction to fight that is ideal for winning against, along with the hardest faction that you should only go up against when you’re ready.
Which Faction is the Weakest in Helldivers 2?
By far the weakest and easiest faction players can face is the Termanids. Focusing on the lower difficulties first, most of the Termanids only have light and only some have medium armor, making them ideal to kill with just about any weapon. Fire is also incredibly effective against them, and bringing any sort of fire weapons or strategems can literally melt away your enemies.
While Termanids focus on using numbers to their advantage, a lot of these bugs aren’t much of a threat, even in large numbers. As you get to higher difficulties, the much stronger bugs can still be taken out with most strategems, and stronger weapons only make basic Termanids even easier to kill.
Bug Holes and Breaches are fairly easy to deal with, as a single high-explosive grenade can take care of the opening and anything that came out of it. The Termanid Front is by far the best place to start in Helldivers 2, letting you farm XP and get better gear before taking on the more difficult factions.
How Strong are the Illuminate in Helldivers 2?
The Illuminate are the middle-of-the-road faction, with their low difficulty levels being very easy, before getting very difficult in the higher difficulties. The Voteless rarely pose a threat even in high numbers, and as long as you take care of the stronger units with the right weapons first when they appear, the Voteless can be easily avoided.
As you increase the difficulty, Fleshmobs are only the start of the harder-to-kill enemies. The Illuminate use shields in a few ways that make it very difficult to take care of groups, as you need to lock onto a singular shielded target and focus them down until they are dead.
Which Faction is the Hardest to Fight in Helldivers 2
The Automatons are by far the most difficult to fight, even at the lower difficulty levels. This faction quickly has medium and even heavily armored units, with lots of very difficult to kill singular units. While you’ll less fewer total Automatons in a fight, their smaller numbers aren’t noticed as your screen quickly gets covered by blaster fire. Just about every unit in this faction has a gun with an impressive rate of fire and infinite ammo, and your playstyle will need to resemble that of a cover-based shooter game just to stay alive.
At the higher end, Automatons have actual tanks and massive walkers that can only be taken down with a handful of weapons, and their rates of fire and damage output can make short work of even an entire squad. The Automaton front is arguably the hardest one to hold, but players will want to get a few levels and get strong guns and strategems before trying to take on this enemy.
