Rayman fans have good reason to be excited, as the official Twitter account for the franchise posted a new message for the first time in four years. The message comes from some of the minds behind the Rayman series, and not only looks fondly upon the past, but also offers some hype for the future of the franchise.
Rayman kicked off in 1995, originally developed by Ubisoft Montpellier, and expanded into full-fledged franchise, with the core series receiving five games, with plenty of spin-off games, including the Raving Rabbids sub-series. Fans have appreciated the series for three decades now, but it’s been a long time since the core series has received a new game, with Rayman Legends initially launching back in 2013. Now, in honor of the series’ 30th anniversary, and to celebrate a fan event that was being held for the series, some of the game’s developers have shared an official message about Rayman‘s past and what the future holds.
Rayman Twitter Account Shares Exciting New Message
On Twitter, fans of Rayman became curious after the account changed its profile image and message. Shortly after, an official Tweet was sent out with a three minute video from the Rayman brand producer Loic Gounon, as well as composer Christophe Heral. The video was originally broadcast as part of the Rayman Alive fan event, which took place on September 1. Gounon said that “starting now,” the developers would be looking back and sharing the history of the series, including behind-the-scenes segments, interviews with the developers, and concept art in the coming months.
Gounon went on to note that the next project from the classic 3D platformer game series is still in the works, stating that Ubisoft Montpellier and Ubisoft Milan are working together to create the next game. He noted that Rayman is in good hands, but also tempered hype, explaining that fans shouldn’t expect to hear anything in the immediate future about the game. Judging from the statement, it may be several years before another Rayman game officially releases. Following this reveal, they included a segment with Christophe Heral, the composer of Rayman Origins and Rayman Legends. He expressed his gratitude for the fans’ heartwarming notes to him about his music for the series, and then he held a mini-performance live for the fans.
Fans seem to be extremely enthusiastic following the release of this tweet. While it might disappoint some to learn that it will be a while before the next Rayman game, simply knowing the original series hasn’t been abandoned and that the developers are passionate about it is a big positive.
