Multiple Fallout projects are currently in production under Bethesda, according to a video games journalist, suggesting wasterlanders may be getting spoiled within the next few years. The popular Fallout series narrates the devastating aftermath of a nuclear war between China and the United States, boasting an atompunk retrofuturistic aesthetic and niche humor. The first game in the series was launched in 1997 by Black Isle Studios, before Bethesda took over for Fallout 3 and subsequent projects.
The latest entry in the Fallout IP is Fallout 76, which previously launched back in 2018. Despite having a rocky launch, the action RPG found its feet through multiple updates, and Fallout 76 will be receiving several combat and perk changes, which will be entering public testing soon. This entry is set in 2102, and players control a Vault 76 resident who must brave the Appalachian open world in an attempt to recolonize.

Speaking on the Friends Per Second podcast on YouTube, VGC journalist Jordan Middler suggested several Fallout projects were in development at different stages. On the topic of Microsoft layoffs and the Perfect Dark cancellation, Middler claimed the company was leaning into the Fallout franchise. “Fallout is the big one. There are multiple Fallout projects in development, including, as far as I’m aware, that one that I’m sure you’re all wanting. It’s not far enough along to say anything like ‘you’re going to be playing this game anytime soon,’” the journalist stated. Of course, several fans are anticipating the fifth main entry in the franchise, and Fallout 5 protagonist wish lists are already being compiled.

Another project on every fan’s mind is a potential rejuvenation of an older classic, as well as a sequel, and several gamers believe now is the perfect time for a Fallout: New Vegas remake. Middler touched on New Vegas as well, joking, “Anyway, New Vegas 2, coming soon. Is this the one we’re all wanting”? Joining Fallout 5 and New Vegas 2 on the list of potential contenders is a Fallout 3 remaster, and some members of the community even want to see a modernization of Fallout 2.
Succeeding alongside Bethesda’s popular video game series is the award-winning live-action series from Amazon. Fallout season 2 will explore the New Vegas setting, reuniting viewers with Lucy, The Ghoul, and the Brotherhood of Steel, and several iconic locations from the spin-off game have already been spotted, including The Tops Hotel and Casino and the iconic location’s sign. Fallout season 2 is confirmed to debut in December 2025, and here’s hoping the fantastic adaptation will continue into a third run.
