Over the past year, Hades 2 has consistently proven itself to be one of the biggest indie hits in recent memory, with its Early Access launch garnering praise for how much it expands on and improves the original. However, PC, Steam Deck, and macOS players are currently the only ones who have been able to experience Hades 2 in all its glory, leaving console players (especially PS5) with no choice but to await news on when the game will make its way to other platforms. Given that Hades eventually came to PS5 about a year after its full release on PC, it’s natural to wonder whether Hades 2 might follow a similar path.
At this point, Hades 2‘s PS5 launch date has yet to be confirmed, but the release pattern for the original, the pacing between updates for the sequel, and the upcoming 1.0 launch all help narrow down its release window. For now, Hades 2‘s 1.0 update is slated to launch only alongside the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 versions of the game, which makes sense given the game’s handheld viability. Even so, a PS5 launch is indeed expected for the game at some point, and it could be sooner than fans might think. Furthermore, depending on Sony’s plans, it could even be revealed in a forthcoming State of Play later this year.

Hades 2’s PS5 Release Could Land Sooner Than Expected
Past Patterns Suggest a Shorter Gap Than Hades 1
One of the more efficient ways to estimate when Hades 2 might launch on the PS5 is to look at Supergiant’s past patterns with the sequel’s predecessor. The original Hades launched in Early Access on PC in 2018 and then didn’t receive its 1.0 update until 2020. Then, it wasn’t until almost a year later that Hades finally arrived on PlayStation consoles. On paper, this might suggest that Hades 2‘s PS5 launch might not happen until at least 2027, but it’s important to remember where Supergiant Games was at the time of Hades‘ development.
Hades 2 has already received its last major update for Early Access, which means its 1.0 release is likely right around the corner.
The lengthy delay between Hades‘ Early Access launch on PC and its arrival on PlayStation consoles made sense for that time, as Supergiant was smaller, and it had less experience, a growing audience, and a more ambiguous roadmap. Now, however, the studio has grown out of those former characteristics and into something that could very well ensure a shorter gap between Hades 2‘s Early Access and PlayStation launches than it could have before. Taking that into consideration, it is reasonable to suggest that Hades 2 could be ported to the PS5 by early 2026 at the latest.
A State of Play Surprise Isn’t Off the Table
Even without any sort of confirmation about when Hades 2 might arrive on the PS5, Sony’s history of highlighting indie titles in its State of Play events could mean that a surprise reveal is on the way for Supergiant’s roguelike ARPG. Since the last State of Play happened in June, another showcase could only be a few months away, meaning Hades 2‘s PS5 launch date reveal could be as well. If the full version of the game launches in late 2025 as expected, a PS5 port could be revealed shortly after, or even shadow-dropped on the same day.
It is reasonable to suggest that Hades 2 could be ported to the PS5 by early 2026 at the latest.
If that doesn’t end up happening, Supergiant could position Hades 2‘s PS5 launch to occur alongside a major update for the game in early 2026. In any case, PS5 players who have been awaiting the game’s arrival on their consoles shouldn’t rule out the first quarter or two of next year, as it seems like the most likely release window to target at the moment.
