In Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4, every skater comes with a predetermined set of tricks, but you might not like the input associated with each trick, or you might want to equip new tricks you have unlocked or slot Special Tricks. THPS 3+4 allows players to customize trick inputs for each skater, but the process can be somewhat obtuse.

Every Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater Game For The PS2, Ranked
There were quite a few Tony Hawk games on the PlayStation 2, and they varied in both reception and quality.
To re-map controls and change trick inputs so you can effectively take on the many THPS 3+4 levels, you must first select the skater you want to customize, then navigate into a sub-menu within a sub-menu to assign new tricks. This guide explains where to find these options, how to equip Special Tricks, and how to swap normal grab, flip, and lip trick inputs.
How To Equip Special Tricks In THPS 3+4
To equip special tricks, you must first select the character you want to customize tricks for. In the main menu, go into either the “Skater” tab at the top of the screen or go into any game mode, then press Y (Xbox) or △ (PlayStation) to open the skater selection menu. Each skater has their own set of special tricks that can be unlocked and equipped per character.
On the character menu, you will see a table titled “Tricks” with ten slots, most of which will be locked at the start of the game. This is a list of the selected skater’s special tricks that can be performed by completing the displayed inputs.
You can unlock more Special Trick slots in Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 by completing Challenges.
To change Special Tricks, open up this tab and select either an empty slot or an existing Special Trick that you want to replace. This will open a sub-menu with every Special Trick available to that character. Select a Special Trick from the list, then exit back to the character menu, and that skater will have access to it while in-game. Remember that Special Tricks can only be performed if the SPECIAL meter is filled.
