The relationship between Nintendo and Amazon has appeared icy for the last few years. Nintendo seemingly pulled its products from the gigantic global retailer, likely due to an ongoing annoyance with Amazon breaking street dates. The tides began shifting when, just a few weeks back, we saw Nintendo first-party games like Donkey Kong Bananza appearing available for preorder (and its corresponding amiibo too).
Now, there’s a new development, as Amazon finally has a listing for the Nintendo Switch 2 on its site. However, for those that tend to choose Amazon for their online shopping, it seems as though it may still be quite difficult to order it through the online retailer.

Nintendo Switch 2 on Amazon
“Available by invitation”
The Nintendo Switch 2 + Mario Kart World bundle listing on Amazon quietly emerged earlier today. But shoppers won’t find a purchase or preorder button when they hit the console’s landing page. Instead, they’ll be offered the ability to sign up for an invitation to potentially buy the new console. If your invitation is approved, you’ll then be emailed a link that’s valid for about a day. As you can probably presume, there’s no word on how many systems Amazon actually has at their disposal.
The console bundle with Mario Kart World is listed at the typical retail price of $500. There were prior listings on Amazon (presumably by scalpers) that had the bundle much higher in price. The updated listing is authentic per the “ships from Amazon” and “sold by Amazon” labels.
Switch 2 Sales Are Breaking Records for Nintendo
Who needs Amazon anyway?
Despite the lack of proper listing on Amazon to date, the Switch 2 has been crushing it for Nintendo. The company revealed that its newest console sold a whopping 3.5 million units in just its first four days on the market. That bested the original Switch in the same amount of time, and thus made it the fastest-selling console in the company’s history.
It probably doesn’t hurt that many Switch 2 systems are being bundled with Mario Kart World. The game has been a bit divisive across various outlets, but GameRant gave the racer a 9/10. We cited it as the best-looking Mario Kart yet, lauding it for its super-deep roster of characters, exciting 24-player races, and the incredibly fun new Knockout Tour mode.
The Nintendo Switch 2 is still in its infancy, but things are certainly looking good for the console’s future. The system rolled out strong, likely in part due to a brand-new Mario Kart. Donkey Kong Bananza, now confirmed to be coming from the same team as Super Mario Odyssey, seems like it has the potential to be something special. And there’s surely plenty more to be excited about from the software side of things down the line. Now it appears Amazon is helping to get the Switch 2 into even more people’s hands going forward.
