Switch 2 Exclusive FAST Fusion is Adding a Highly Requested Feature on July 10

Sci-fi racer FAST Fusion will be updated with a new Photo Mode on July 10, allowing racers to show off their favorite vehicles in style. FAST Fusion was released on June 5 as a Nintendo Switch 2 launch title, providing players with a solid alternative to Mario Kart World. Developed by Shin’en Multimedia, FAST Fusion is the fourth installment in the FAST series of sci-fi racers.

FAST Fusion sets itself apart from other racers with its sophisticated customization system and anti-gravity tracks. The Switch 2 exclusive offers a wide variety of vehicles for players to choose from, thanks to its “Fusion Mode” mechanic, which allows racers to fuse various vehicles to form hundreds of potential FAST Fusion ship combinations. The game’s anti-grav tracks also boast alternate layouts for racers to explore, and with FAST Fusion‘s Hyperjump feature encouraging players to jump over various obstacles, there are plenty of opportunities to strategize.

Futuristic Switch 2 exclusive racing game Fast Fusion is plenty of fun, but a couple of missteps keep it from reaching its full potential.

According to an exclusive report by Nintendo Life, a FAST Fusion update to Version 1.4 will add a Photo Mode to the racer on July 10, along with a few glitch fixes. The new feature appears to have options similar to the Photo Mode for Mario Kart World, complete with camera zoom, tilt, and focus controls, as well as a vignette effect and customizable frames for each photo. The update also patches three main bugs: an issue that caused the wrong music to play in the Zenshoh Habitat track, a UI problem that caused the map for the Alpine Trust track to take up too much screen space, and a rare glitch that caused certain vehicles in higher leagues to hit invisible walls.

Released on June 26, the Pure Update for FAST Fusion added three new tracks to the game, as well as the “PURE” rendering mode for playing in either docked or handheld mode. The new render mode allows players to toggle upscaling on and off at 1440p docked and 1080p in handheld mode, a tool that may prove useful for aspiring race photographers looking to make the most out of the new Photo Mode.

Although Photo Modes are usually a welcome addition to any game, there seems to be a trend with developers waiting until after release to add them in a patch. For example, Gearbox Software revealed in June that their upcoming looter-shooter Borderlands 4 will have a Photo Mode, but due to other gameplay mechanics taking precedence, its development was put on the back burner.

FAST Fusion Version 1.4 Patch Notes (July 10, 2025)

    – New Photo Mode added

    – Fixed an issue where the wrong music played in ‘Zenshoh Habitat’ track

    – Fixed an issue in ‘Alpine Trust’ track where the map was too large

    – Fixed a rare issue where you could hit ‘invisible’ walls in higher leagues with certain vehicles
