How to Find & Use Pirate’s Compass

When you crash-land on the island in PEAK, you’ve got a huge mountain ahead of you and an empty backpack. Luckily, the island is packed with all sorts of resources to find. Trying out different items is part of what makes the climb so fun.

Players will be introduced to a compass right after they start their journey. It’s pretty basic and just helps you figure out which way to go. But later in your climb, you might find something more interesting: the Pirate’s Compass. So, what does it actually do, and is it worth keeping in your limited backpack space? Here’s what you need to know.

PEAK: How to Deal With Frost

Frost is a debilitating status effect in PEAK that poses a significant threat to your climb. Here’s how to deal with it.

What is Pirate’s Compass in PEAK?

When you crash-land in PEAK, you basically start from scratch. Sure, you will find a few basic items like the Bing Bong and a regular compass in the plane wreck, but let’s be honest, they are not going to help much. Luckily, there are many useful items in the world just waiting to be picked up. Some items increase your stamina, while others, like the Faerie Lantern, can fix status effects. And then, there are rare ones that can even bring your teammates back to life.

Most of the good stuff is hidden inside luggage bags scattered around the island.

That’s where the Pirate’s Compass comes in. It’s not like the regular compass you get in the beginning. This one points players toward the nearest unopened luggage. That means, instead of randomly walking around hoping to find something, you can go straight to where the loot is. And, since luggage can contain some of the best items in the game, like packaged food, medkits, or even rare things like the Cursed Skull, having a Pirate’s Compass makes your climb a lot easier.

Once you get your hands on Pirate’s Compass, equip it. This compass is very easy to use. Follow the direction the red needle is pointing, and it will take you to an unopened luggage case.

How to Get Pirate’s Compass in PEAK

The Pirate’s Compass is a legendary PEAK item, so don’t expect it to be lying around just everywhere. You can find it in random luggage bags during your climb, or you can also get it by using a statue after completing a biome. It’s all based on luck, and there’s no guarantee scouts will find it right away. But, if you do, make sure either you or someone on your team picks it up. It can make a huge difference on those tough climbs.
