How to Get Star Pieces in Umamusume Pretty Derby

In Umamusume Pretty Derby, you’ll need different items to wrap up important tasks, like raising the potential of trainees, leveling up support cards, or buying upgrade materials from the shop. Among them, Star Pieces are a must-have and definitely worth prioritizing.

These are the crystallized fragments that let you unlock new characters for training and add more stars to their profiles. You can also trade extra ones for Clovers, which can then be exchanged for Energy Drinks, Monies, and Sashes from the shop. For those interested, this guide explains how to get Star Pieces in Umamusume Pretty Derby.

    Exchange for Statues

The main method to get Star Pieces in Umamusume Pretty Derby is by using statues to claim them in the game shop. You usually earn these statues when you pull duplicate horsegirls from the gacha. Just spend your Carats in the Scout menu, roll out some already-owned trainees, and visit the Statue Exchange to pick your favorite Umamusume’s Star Piece. You can also collect statues while playing through career mode.

    Join in Legends Races

Another simple way to snag Star Pieces is by participating in Legends Races (found under the Race Events section). Winning these races rewards you with Star Pieces for the featured horsegirl, plus Carats and Coins. If you’re doing this for the first time, you can get up to 10 Star Pieces as a First Win Bonus.

    Trade for Friend Points

Players looking for more Star Pieces can head to the Friend Point Exchange section in the game shop and see if any are available. You can get them by spending Friend Points, which are easy to rack up by joining Team Trials or lending your Support Cards to other players.

    Exchange for Club Points

Sometimes, Star Pieces also show up in the Club Points Exchange. To buy them, you’ll need Club Points, which are mostly earned through the Club Rewards menu (unlocked at Team Rank E3). You can also pick up Club Points by borrowing Legacy Umamusumes while training other horsegirls.

    Shop at Daily Sales

Umamusume Pretty Derby fans can also gather more Star Pieces from the Daily Sales section. This shop opens automatically after you join a normal race (these are different from career races and can be accessed from the Race menu). Once you’re done participating, head over to the Game Shop to access the Daily Sales shop and buy fragments using Monies.

How to Use Star Pieces in Umamusume Pretty Derby

As mentioned above, Star Pieces are super useful. You can primarily give them away to get fresh horsegirls. For quick math, you’ll need 150 matching Star Pieces to unlock one trainee. Once a character is with you, and you’ve got more of her fragments, then you can go for Star Unlocks next.

Star Unlocks increase the base attributes of your racers, meaning their starter Stamina, Power, Speed, Guts, and Wit can go way up. Also, their special skill will be polished even more, so much so that it’ll transform into a new one, giving you more edge during races. If you reach at least three stars on a character’s profile, you’ll also unlock her unique race outfit, making her look even cooler. On top of that, if she becomes a Legacy Umamusume, she can pass down her improved skill to new trainees.

Finally, if you still have leftover Star Pieces after maxing out a horsegirl, you can trade them for Clovers in the Star Piece Storage section. Clovers are a shop currency that can be used to get items like Scout Tickets, Sashes, Drinks, and more.
