Rather than just small segments of the script not being done, a significant chunk still needs to be worked on, and arguably, the most important section of it. The final third is what everything should be building toward, and if that hasn’t been finalized, then it’s hard to believe everyone knows what they’re working toward.

With a cast the size of Avengers: Doomsday, not having a completed script ahead of time is problematic. There are many moving parts involved with making a movie of this size, and the only way it comes together and works is if everything is planned out in detail. That’s what made Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame so special, as Marvel Studios knew what was happening for a long time. It allowed everything to come together in an entertaining manner. However, that’s not the case here, which means the end result might suffer. People won’t be able to fully commit to character and different scenes as they don’t know where things are going, plus it could end up being a nightmare in terms of schedule. That move in itself had a level of desperation about it that some fans questioned, and the lack of plans for the ending of Avengers: Doomsday might be a sign that they were right to do so.

The entire Multiverse saga of the MCU has been problematic, with a lack of cohesion in the movies that has led to more confusion than anything else for people. That, coupled with the script problems, are leading to a lot of question marks surrounding Avengers: Doomsday. It’s a movie that should only have hype and momentum surrounding it, but right now, it feels like all the news coming out of the movie is worrying. If Marvel Studios isn’t able to turn that around soon, there’s a risk that the entire project is going to fall apart and be another major misfire, which is something the franchise doesn’t need right now after a difficult few years. Avengers: Doomsday needs to deliver to get the franchise back on track, and at the moment, it feels like that’s impossible.
