Here’s what One Piece fans can expect from the Egghead arc.
One Piece Anime Is Going On A Week-Long Break
The One Piece anime released Episode 1136 on July 13, 2025. It received a lot of positive reviews, leading to a rating of 9.9 on IMDb. The episode’s rating proves how much the audience enjoyed it. After gathering so much, One Piece Episode 1136 has become the highest-rated anime episode of the year, beating the likes of Solo Leveling, Takopi’s Original Sin, Lord of Mysteries, etc.
Unfortunately, the One Piece anime will be going on a break, meaning it will return with a new episode on July 27, 2025. Until then, One Piece fans will have to make do by rewatching older episodes or trying something new. The anime has been taking breaks frequently, but no one has a problem with it. Fans know that producing new episodes is strenuous work, and the staff deserve some rest.
One Piece Anime Will Return With The Egghead Arc
The Action Resumes On Egghead Island
As previously stated, One Piece Episode 1136 marked the end of Kuma’s flashback. When the anime finally returns, it will start airing episodes focused on the events happening on Egghead Island, meaning fans will get to see what happens to the Straw Hat Pirates and Dr. Vegapunk’s satellites. This is massive news for fans who wanted to watch the action on Egghead Island.
I thought you were already dead, Vegapunk. —Jaygarcia Saturn
The heroes have been in jeopardy since the arrival of Saint. Jaygarcia Saturn. The Godhead transformed into a Yokai and began crushing everyone who stood in his path. Normally, Luffy would have dealt with the enemy, but he was exhausted from fighting Kizaru. So, the heroes will have to find a way to deal with Jaygarcia Saturn while keeping Vegapunk alive.
The manga is currently covering Elbaf, but it might not be like before the anime joins it. The anime’s pacing has been solid, so the episodes have little to no filler content. The One Piece anime is nearly flawless, but it has one major flaw— sound effects. For years, One Piece fans have been asking Toei Animation to add new sound effects, which would suit the current style more. However, the studio has yet to make the change. It keeps reusing old sound effects, which has angered a lot of fans. Hopefully, Toei Animation takes some action and gives viewers what they want.
Monkey D. Dragon’s Voice Actor Is Being Changed
Previous Voice Actor Retired From The Role
Another update is tied to Monkey D. Dragon’s voice actor. Previously, Hidekatsu Shibata served as the Revolutionary’s voice actor, but he has retired from the role. After much deliberation, Kazuhiko Inoue was chosen to fill the role. It is worth mentioning that Kazuhiko Inoue voiced a younger Monkey D. Dragon. His other roles include:
- Kakashi
- Kars
- Gildarts
- Touichiro
- Willy
- Oboro
Changing the voice actors is becoming a common theme. Not so long ago, Kazuki Yao, Franky’s voice actor, had to step down from his role because of his health issues. He was replaced by Subaru Kimura, who is renowned for voicing Sakuragi from Slam Dunk.
The decision to change voice actors is not something that Toei Animation will be happy with. Fans have been accustomed to old voice actors, so hearing a new voice is quite odd for them. However, the decisions are only made after keeping the health of the voice actors in mind. Voice acting isn’t easy, and doing the job for years does take a toll on a person’s body. So, it’s completely understandable why they step down from their roles after such a long time.
