The Strongest Characters In My Hero Academia Who Can To Fly

This list will contain spoilers up to the end of season 7 of My Hero Acacemia.

    Summary

    • Flying abilities in My Hero Academia are rare but crucial for heroes/villains in battles.
    • Unique flyers like Uraraka, Gran Torino, Nagant, Hawks showcase diverse ways of using their Quirks.
    • Characters like Nana, Bakugo, All For One, and Deku harness flight capabilities for combat and mobility.

Being able to take to the skies at a moment’s notice can immediately give a hero or villain the upper hand during an intense fight, though only a few characters in the My Hero Academia anime are able to actually do this. Unlike many other shonen anime, such as Dragon Ball or Bleach, for example, it’s not all that common to see characters who are able to fly in My Hero Academia’s story, though considering Quirk abilities come in all sorts of weird and bizarre forms, there are still inevitably a few that allow for this.

    Lady Nagant, Mei, Nozu

Despite having no offensive capabilities whatsoever, these Quirks in My Hero Academia still stand out for their creativity and uniqueness.

For the heroes, having the ability to fly means they can get a bird’s-eye view of a city, which helps them seek out any villains who are up to no good. On the other hand, villains can use it to make a quick getaway from their crimes or even to outmaneuver their opponents in battle. Of course, for someone to make full use of this kind of mobility, they also need to be strong. The following individuals are among the most powerful flyers in My Hero Academia.

    8

    Ochaco Uraraka

Uraraka Can Remain In The Air For Several Seconds To Avoid Incoming Damage

    • First Appearance: Episode 4

Any time Uraraka activates her Zero Gravity Quirk, everything nearby, including herself, will begin floating into the air. Most of the time, Uraraka will decide to use her special ability in order to rescue innocent civilians who are trapped under falling debris and rubble, but it can be used offensively, too.

While Toga used Uraraka’s Quirk to kill an entire group of MLA soldiers by plunging them into the ground, Uraraka was also able to deploy it during her fight against Toga as a way to keep up with her mobility and avoid her attacks. Uraraka may not be as much of a powerhouse as many of her classmates. However, she is still capable of dishing out some serious damage with her Quirk, and is also a hero who will refuse to give up no matter how dire the situation gets.

    7

    Gran Torino

All Might’s Former Mentor Is Capable Of Moving Faster Than The Eye Can See

    • First Appearance: Episode 26

Despite clearly being way past his prime, age doesn’t seem to have slowed down Grant Torino one bit. He is still just as fast and dangerous as he was when he was acting as the mentor to All Might. Much of his power comes from his personal Quirk, which allows Torino to shoot air off the soles of his feet, a skill he will use in combat to flank around villains without them realizing he’s going in for an attack.

When at a safe distance, these My Hero Academia heroes and villains can cause some serious damage with their Quirk abilities.

However, there have also been several scenes that show Torino shooting himself into the sky, from which he can analyze the battlefield from a high vantage point. In fact, he could even keep up with his old friend Nana back when they were younger. Torino’s Quirk enables him to intercept villains in the blink of an eye, and though he is definitely a lot more fragile in the main story than he used to be, his underlying strength can’t be ignored.

    6

    Lady Nagant

Air Walk Allows Nagant To Find A Suitable Vantage Point

    • First Appearance: Episode 128

After turning her back on hero society due to being exploited by the Public Safety Commission, Nagant eventually found herself teaming up with none other than the maniacal mastermind All For One. In exchange for her compliance, All For One granted her the Air Walk Quirk. With Air Walk, the marksman can travel through the sky until she reaches a vantage point that gives her a good look at her enemy from a safe distance.

While Nagant, therefore, may not be flying in the literal sense, she is still able to remain in the air indefinitely so long as she keeps moving forward. She’s also incredibly skilled at picking off enemies from afar, something Deku witnessed first-hand after Nagant’s bullets pelted him, and he barely escaped her relentless assault with his life intact. She may not be as formidable at close range, but Nagant’s Air Walk Quirk ensures that she’s always able to take down her opponents from range with ease when throwing out her rifle.

    5

    Hawks

Hawks’ Feathers Can Eliminate Villains In Seconds

    • First Appearance: Episode 66

As Endeavor makes clear during the Pro Hero arc, Hawks reached the number two position for two main reasons: one being his immense popularity among the public, and the other being his speed. Thanks to his giant red wings, Hawks can not only take flight, but can also control each of his individual feathers to use as razor-sharp weapons.

Therefore, he’s able to throw out attacks extremely quickly, and can also reach a crime scene in mere seconds thanks to his lightning-fast wings, as proven when he shot to Endeavor’s aid while the hero was fighting Hood. Hawks’ upbringing in the Public Safety Commission already taught him how to be a lethal hand-to-hand combatant, but being able to fly makes him all the more dangerous.

    4

    Nana Shimura

A Previous Inheritor Of One For All Who Retains Her Own Personal Quirk

    • First Appearance: Episode 24

Unlike Deku and All Might, Nana, a previous holder of the One For All Quirk, wasn’t born Quirkless. Instead, when she came to inherit the immensely strong ability, she was already in possession of Float, which would be her go-to ability for patrolling the streets when she was still a hero. Pair all of this with her impressive physique and undying passion to deliver justice, and it made Nana one of the most reliable heroes in all of Japan when she was still alive.

Deku is no longer the quirkless kid he once was as he’s evolved significantly throughout the My Hero Academia anime.

From the flashbacks of Nana that have been shown throughout the story, she would occasionally use Float to get a clear view of her opponent, before slamming them into the ground with a fierce haymaker or kick. Unfortunately, All For One proved to be too strong for Nana when the two finally met, and the hero was killed in action. Though it’s clear she was a force to be reckoned with back in her day, and while a lot of that is attributed to One For All, her Float Quirk also had a part to play in many of her battles.

    3

    Katsuki Bakugo

Uses His Quirk In Creative Ways, And Even Figured Out How To Fly

    • First Appearance: Episode 1

In the first few arcs of the story, Bakugo didn’t care much about finding unique ways to use his Explosion Quirk. Instead, all he focused on was causing as much carnage as possible. However, as the story progresses, he slowly realizes that being able to control his explosions in different ways will make him a much more well-rounded hero. In fact, he would even be able to keep himself in the air after realizing that he could shoot his blasts behind him while on the move.

Needless to say, this has helped him out in plenty of intense situations, not only in the exams, but also in fights against villains, such as when he kept up with a hyperpowered Shigaraki by accelerating and Awakening his Quirk. Bakugo is undoubtedly one of the strongest heroes to come out of class 1-A, and it’s a real terrifying sight for any villain to see this guy launching himself up above, as it’s a warning that he’s about to cause utter destruction once he lands.

    2

    All For One

All For One Enjoys Looking Down On His Feeble Opponents From Up High

    • First Appearance: Episode 4

As a man obsessed with collecting as many Quirks as possible, it only makes sense that All For One would have at least one or two that would allow him to fly. One Quirk that allows this, which becomes one of his go-to abilities early on, is Air Walk, which he eventually gave away to Nagant after she betrayed the heroes.

However, Horikoshi recently revealed thatShigaraki’s original Quirk was also an ability that allowed the user to hover or, at least, float to some degree. After taking the Quirk for himself, All For One beefed it up with a few other abilities to create yet another powerful Quirk, which grants him some extra mobility. Of course, All For One also has a ton of other strong Quirks up his sleeve that can dish out an incredible amount of damage any time he decides to go all out, as he did during the final war against Deku and the other heroes.

    1

    Deku

Thanks To Former One For All Users, Deku Can Shoot Himself Through The Sky At Blistering Speeds

    • First Appearance: Episode 1

While it was already a big occasion for Deku to receive the One For All Quirk from All Might, little did the young student know that he would soon be inheriting a bunch of unique abilities to help him in his adventure. While all of these Quirks have their own benefits, the one Deku acquires first is Blackwhip, and when paired with the Float quirk, it allows him to remain in the sky indefinitely while shooting himself forward to reach his destination as quickly as possible.

There have been many examples of Deku using his Quirks to fly, but the one many fans remember is when he flung himself over to Shigaraki to commence the final battle of the series. This isn’t even mentioning his other Quirks, which are all insanely powerful in their own right, and considering the tremendous amount of work and effort Deku puts into mastering these abilities, it should come as no surprise that, by the end of the story, he’s an absolute powerhouse of a hero.
