While the SSR horse girls have most players’ attention in Umamusume: Pretty Derby, there are several strong SR options, like King Halo, that are great for both career mode and PVP Team Trials. King Halo is one of the most frustrating girls to train in Umamusume, but those who can put up with her will be rewarded with an incredibly strong runner suited to multiple race types.
King Halo is primarily a Late Surger with a preference for Sprint distances, but her aptitudes are high enough elsewhere that she can be molded into basically any archetype as long as you have the right set of Legacy Umamusume to guide her. King Halo is a jack of all trades, but helping her realize her true potential takes some work.

Umamusume Pretty Derby – All Characters (& How to Unlock Them)
There are many characters you can unlock as Trainees or Veterans in Umamusume: Pretty Derby; this guide shows how to get them and their stats.
Best Stats for King Halo
King Halo’s most important stat is Speed. Even if you upgrade her aptitudes and break free from her usual Late Surger mold, she’ll still need a very high Speed stat to keep up with other racers. 1000 Speed is the threshold you should be aiming for with King Halo.
Depending on which races you want King Halo to run, you should aim for 500 Stamina. Her career is almost exclusively Medium-distance or shorter races (except for the Kikuka Sho, which she doesn’t need to win), so she doesn’t need that much energy. You can even get away with less than 500 Stamina if you have enough energy recovery skills.
Since King Halo has plenty of B-rated aptitudes by default, it’s easy to build her in multiple different ways. Make sure to adjust your training regimen accordingly if you want a version of King Halo with a different racing style of distance preference.
Power is the second most important stat for King Halo, especially since she specializes in shorter races. Power is crucial for shorter tracks, and she has a 20% growth rate bonus that makes Power training even easier. Ideally, Power should be just below Speed for King Halo. Shoot for 800-900 Power by the end of her career.
King Halo should be fine with a Guts stat of 350-400 and a Wit stat of 500. These two are not nearly as important as Speed and Power, but having a high enough Wit stat can drastically improve her performance. Skills are especially important for Late Surgers, so a higher Wit stat can really help King Halo’s career.
Best Support Cards for King Halo
The best Support Card deck for King Halo consists of three Speed cards, two Power cards, and either a Wit or Stamina card depending on what cards you own. These are some of the strongest Support Cards for King Halo in Umamusume.

- Eishin Flash (Speed)
- Sweep Tosho (Speed)

- Mejiro Ryan (Power)
- Matikanetannhauser (Guts)
- Grass Wonder (Guts)

You should at least have Kitasan Black, Vodka, or Super Creek in your Support Card deck for King Halo, so use your borrow slot on one of them. These are the best three Support Cards overall for King Halo, so having at least one will make a huge difference. Sweep Tosho, Mayano Top Gun, and Agnes Digital are three great SR Support Cards for King Halo as well.
Best Skills for King Halo
These are the best skills to unlock for King Halo, whether they come from support events or Legacy inheritance.
- Call Me King
- Gap Closer
- Studious

- Swinging Maestro
- Relax
- Professor of Curvature
- Beeline Burst
- Fast & Furious
- Rising Dragon
- Late Surger Straightaways/Corners

These skills maximize King Halo’s performance as a Late Surger. Her unique skill, Call Me King, increases her velocity with 200 meters remaining after racing calmly. That’s her main win condition, so ensuring that she can smoothly navigate around other races and maintain her energy is crucial. Of course, any other speed-boosting skills will also help King Halo. Her career may start off rough, but if you stick with King Halo, she can carry you to the URA Finale and help you win more Team Trials.
